Si j'en disais plus, ce ne serait plus une surprise ! Et puis, c'est toi l’hôtesse du trek ...
---------- If I said more, it would not be a surprise! And then, you're the hostess of the trek ... ![]() (A word on SNURK & Friends place maybe ?) |

Well just as the Norwegians predicted for my area, we got squat from the hurricane. When will people stop listening to mainstream media? Even Weather Channel got busted reporting fake news, I posted the fake news on my Facebook page if anyone knows how or wants to share it here. We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow and Monday but that's like 2" total.

acpartsman,
Bref ! Merci d'avoir donné des nouvelles. --------- Thank you for giving news! And yes, often mainstream media take the opportunity to 'make the buzz'. With I believe, our governments are afraid of not giving the alert when it is necessary. Which makes me think about the story of Peter and the Wolf. That's why I prefer to ask people there. As I explained earlier, my little brother lives 30km from one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. More than 10 years ago, he lived there, only once, they were really ready to leave the house, with the car ready and everything for the kids. While two or three times a year, there are alerts that go back to France. And, even if it's a little silly, it's stressing until you know what it really is. In short! Thank you for giving news. ![]() |

Good to hear that both Base Campers based on the eastern seaboard are well enough to speak.
Inasmuch as I would hesitate to call a weather forecast gone bad ’fake news’ - I have the recent Fox News piece of comparing Denmark to Venezuela example for genuine fake news ![]() I shall say that ’the Norwegians’ yr.no have remarkably accurate forecasts as far as Denmark is concerned. At one point they had beginning of percipitation predicted wrongly by just 2 minutes! ![]() ![]() Good Afternoon Base Campers! Business SNURK and friends got no new members since I last checked – but, hey, two permanent members as I believe Kevin Grabher and BobMcGee are is over and above what Base Camp is used to attract to the host team of a trek. So I’m pretty satisfied in this regard. Still let it be no secret that we should like more crunchers to join for the remainder of September – especially during the last week of September when SNURK and friends participates in a challenge. ![]() Chit-chat Today I went to Copenhagen to listen to an interesting debate about what will happen in Sweden after the general election there last Sunday that panned out giving each group of parties (left/right) an equal number of seats with the paria immigration critical party Sverigesdemokraterna in the middle. Nobody wants to play with them, so forming a governmnent is very difficult. Tomorrow will be a visit – in Copenhagen as well – to Dieselhouse to see - and listen to - what was the worlds biggest diesel engine for a good number of years. They fire her up once a month, and my friend says it will make my favorite Peterbilt (square nosed) sound like a lawn mower motor. After that I’ll get a tour of the Parliament based at Christiansborg which celebrates its 100 year anniversary. So expect posts to be few and far between. Once again ![]() ![]() |

Don't be a parrot! Go search for the definition of that! It's a weather forecast!!! They get it wrong! But they don't knowing tell you incorrect information! You missed my point and apparently my first post. From day 1 the Norwegians showed the hurricane hitting the NC coast, turning south then heading west and dying. I'm 200+ miles from the coast. It was never a chance of us getting anything but rain and even then nothing unusual. The US media on the other hand had everyone in a panic saying it was going to be a direct hit for my area while Florence was still in the Bermuda area. So as usual when the weatherman gives these kinds of predictions, people flock to the store and clear the shelves as if they're going to be unable to leave home for 2 weeks. No storm of any kind ahs hit my area in my lifetime that kept people barricaded in their homes for more than 2 or 3 days. And you can bet those times also meant they had no power, so what good did most of what they bought do them? None as most of what people buy requires power to prepare. The US weather service does nothing more than speculate. If it's winter and it's cloudy they'll say chance of snow even if it's 50 degrees outside. On more than one occasion I've heard them predict sunny/warm, rain, snow, sleet and freezing rain all in the same sentence. The recent video of the Weather Channel reporter faking the severity of Florence just goes to prove that every facet of the American media is out of control. Freedom of the press doesn't give them the right to tell what they know are lies or to make up news when there isn't any.
One drop raises the sea.

I understand what you were referring to acpartsman, although I have not watched that live weather report, I have read many descriptions.
----------------------------------------I have seen the often exaggerated descriptions used by the news and attempts to make headlines over nothing , so certain "news" channels have lost credibility with me. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

Also I long for the time when meteorologists just let us in on their best jugdement
as to how temperature, percipitation, and wind were thought to behave for the day(s) ahead, but it has developed into a show - also on state run TV ![]() Why? Isn't it because in general we love weather, talk about it, hear about it? Denmark had some three months of uninterrupted sun - never saw a summer like it - and it was so unsettling. We just wanted to hear one word: RAIN! I remember going to the Pacific Coast and walking in the wind driven rain for hours. I hadn't realized I missed it so much. So yes, the meteorologists have a grip on our souls .... Good Morning Base Campers! Business Nobody came to help us help us help SNURK and friends winning the THOR challenge. Well, there's still time ..... Chit-chat Oh, that big turbine was really something. Most of Denmark vibrated - it could have been that little real life earthquake, too, of 3.4 Richter ![]() ![]() |
