Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I suspect we are going to have some interesting discussions. But don't want to hijack this thread.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I joined Sawyer's team. I've been seeing Old Chap all around the WCG and other BOINC forums since I first started BOINC.

I'm going to keep my machines on the Microbiome Immunity Project. I'm on a bit of a personal mission. After 60 years of robust good health that included 42 years of combined military, contract, and civil service to USAF, i suddenly was afflicted by type one diabetes.

One of the reasons I dropped Gridcoin is that to make any coin at all, you had to constantly move BOINC projects to ones where you could be one of the top points makers. It was quite the interesting game: find a project that was high points and under-subscribed and move there; then as others moved in, move to where they vacated and be the big contributor. It took a lot of time and you had to suspend all interest in contributing to anything with a personal interest. Anything in WCG wouldn't usually even pay for the electricity you used. I just got tired of the game and wanted to get back to why I started WCG in the first place. .

BladeD< move our discussion the Chat??

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

The MIP is the most Type 1 auto-immune project I could find in all of BOINC
My case, like most Type 1, in a total mystery to the specialists I see. Does not seem to be diet, fitness, or other lifestyle behavior related. Mapping the Biome of gut seems to hold promise.

wes. rose went home to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
It was a pleasure to have you along on this prolonged trek - and for so long.
Should you feel bored, you're welcome back any time.
B2I rose joined. Welcome smile
- it's been a long, long time.
Something about you, Colorado, and possibly New York resounds in my head thinking
I'm sad that you are hit with diabetes 1.
These auto-immune illnesses are not all very well understood.
The good news is that advanced treatment is available
making it possible to live an almost normal life.
Your military discipline will come in handy talk to the hand

Yes, OldChap worked like a horse in this double trek
while he underwent cancer treatment himself.
In this post and the following is a listing of
the crunchers who originally pitched in.
I'll make an amendment for you and
those who will make you company.
EDIT: Put a team link in and

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Hey Li'l Mermaid. We do go back a ways.

Quick Bio refresh: lotta time in US Air force;: 22 active and 20 more as a contractor and civil servant. Most of time was in either weapons test, Research Labs or Space Command. Lived all over the US but originally an Ozarkian. That means I was roaming the woods of southern MO and northern AR with guns putting food on the table a age of 8, driving tractors by 10, never met an atheist until I was 19. Ozarkian culture simply put: you belong to your mother until age 7 to teach you how to take care of yourself and respect women, 7-14 you father takes over to teach you to be a man, 14 to 21 is to prove your self. After that, no excuses, you take responsibility for your own actions.

Fully retired from working for anyone but myself to a few acres in Colorado. If you watch the Netflix show, "The Ranch" that's where I live.

My biggest project is doing large scale composting and using it to try and make rich farm land out of hard pack and rocks. Also spend time with grandkids and turn free or ebay cheap computers into BOINC crunchers.

I'm now running about 10 old Dells, and hand builts at 100% to help heat the house but I cut them back the first day the AC comes on in the spring/summer.

Contemplating building a new machine from a Ryzen soon.

Good to see you're still here and seem to be thriving.

B2I ( big beautiful ideas)

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

B2I, thank you for your info. As to 'The Ranch' I tried to Google some pictures,
but it seems as if they are mainly taken inside.
If I watched TV, I would love to see how 'The Ranch' interprets your neighborhood.
I toured Colorado some decades ago, and the mountain sceneries were breathtaking.
I also tried arriving in Denver from San Francisco by train.
The descent from the Rocky Mountains was excitingly abrupt. Rail hairpins, one after the other.
