There is % 0,0545 probability per week. I rather start to pray being a lucky one.

Maybe I have a solution to maximize the chance of having a ACH unit : crunch only for DDT project so the units are very small, and set work buffer to 0. The WUs of DDT are so small your computer will send and receive units far more often than others projects. I don't know if it can be helpful ... I tried this and it worked. I finally got an ACH WU. ![]() ![]() |

If you are having a lesser bandwidth than what is required for ACH, you can change the values for <bwup> and <bwdown> in client_state.xml after exiting BOINC.
It worked for me. Now I have couple of ACH WUs, but rate of Invalid results seems to be high for me. |

I got one, too.
----------------------------------------![]() Although I usually have cached WUs for one whole day I managed to have it started now. ![]() I hope its run will be without failure. /edit/ All went well. ![]() ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. I've just seen one unit since the begining of that project. As there not a lot of unit sent per day, what would be kind is that members who have allready got ACH badge get read of ACH from there favorite projects to let more chance to the others to get the badge too. Just got my ACH badge, so I go back to nomal priority for ACH work units on my machine crunching for all projects with no special settings. What I did to get the ACH workunits (for those who are still desperate to get one): 1. Keep an eye on the specific requirements for this project. I.e. check from time to time the bwdown value in your client_state.xml. Keep that value above 60000. 2. Set your profile to do only ACH and no work from other projects. Use a very short polling interval (I used 0.02) and a large additional work buffer (I used 4 days). This setting gave me 2 to 4 ACH work units at once when some were available. 3. To keep my machine crunching I changed temporarily my profile to a shorter additional work buffer (1 day) and accept WUs from other projects. After getting these other work units I immediately switched back to the setting described at #2. The shorter additional work buffer determines the interval at which you need to repeat this procedure to keep your machine busy. Be aware that I did not get any ACH work units for nearly a week now. I got the badge from pending WUs I crunched before. Greetings Thorsten |

Congratulations Thorson! ![]() That is the approach that I have taken since I got desparate at the end of February to get an ACH badge before the project ended. I missed out on earning 2 of the available badges by not crunching enough WUs for certain projects between when I first joined and when the project ended. Where do you set the polling interval? Does the time spent crunching a WU count towards a badge as soon as the WU has been returned or when it has been validated? I started keeping track of my ACH WU time totals only recently. That tally is 228 hours out of 336 needed. I estimate that I need 8 or 9 more ACH WUs to get the badge. Unfortunately it appears that we are getting close to the end of this phase. I might be able to pull it off since I got 14 WUs out of cycle 24 & 25. ![]() |

I missed out on earning 2 of the available badges by not crunching enough WUs for certain projects between when I first joined and when the project ended. OK, I know the project is currently approaching completion of its first phase, but do we have any idea if it will change badges when it returns from the pause? For example, Human Proteome Folding changed badges when it came back. But was that a return from a pause, or actually a second, different project? Basically if it's a choice between watching BOINC constantly and switching my work buffers constantly to try and put in the effort while the last several phases of ACH are worked through, or waiting til the project comes back and simply selecting it alone and watching the plentiful WUs crunch, I'd much prefer the latter. But if it's going to be a different badge I'll start working on it now. I guess this question applies to Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy too. ![]() |

Hello breathesgelatin,
The policy is not set in stone, but we currently plan to keep the same badge through all phases. HPF2 is not a precedent because it is sponsored by a different research organization than sponsored HPF. So internally it was always treated as a new project. Lawrence |
