One of my computers has disappeared from My Devices

One of my computers hs disappeared from the list in My Devices. It is getting work and points, and the screen saver shows my user id; but it does not show up in my Devices, how can I find it and bring it back into the fold.

Any help appreciated.

The My Devices filter has a few bugs - make sure you have selected "any time" in both dropdown boxes.

Is it still missing? If so, please give us the Device ID.

Re: One of my computers has disappeared from My Devices

Hi-

Thanks for your help.

A friend of mine gave me some help and now everything is showing.

After what you said about the filters, I am not sure he was completely correct. He said if I have not had a result of a finished task in the past two weeks, the device would not show up.

I checked first in BOINC manager on that computer and there was a just completed task, and sure enough the device showed up.

I tried the "anytime" on both filters, which raised another question. I am running BOINC and WCG on four computers. But because of problems I previously had on one computer, what with un-installing and re-installing I actually show 21 devices. EGAD! I was just determined to have all my machines doing some work.

I went in to a couple of device profiles and could not find a delete button.
Is there a way to get rid of these errant registrations?

My current installations should be:

Member Name: mitrichr
Team: HPCTC-CAE (There is still one project task on LaptopII on team Spread Firefox)

Agent Type Device Name Selected Profile Date Installed & Reg
BOINC LAPTOP work 11/11/07
BOINC LaptopII Default 11/04/07
BOINC Desktop Default 10/04/07
BOINC Desktop II Default 8/24/07

If there is a way for me to get rid of all of the other registrations, I would appreciate knowing how to do it.

Help has this to say about duplicate/unwanted devices:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewSe...ame+computer+listed"

There are ways to avoid future duplication should a reinstall be needed. Some words were spend on how to in the Start Here forum:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16521

It continues to be on the wish list to 'merge' old and new device installs v.v. BOINC.

No, there is not. I have 3 active computers, and one more sometimes, but am showing 110 devices due to past testing and other computers which no longer exist.

Old devices with activity must be preserved for historical and statistical reasons.

If the device is more than one year old and it has submitted no work at all, then I say, "purge it somehow." since it won't hurt anything by being gone. So far, device squashing has not been implemented. After the site goes to "BOINC-only" there may be some thought given to enhancements or consolidation.

O.K., thanks to all, I will stop worrying about it. I sure am trumped by a list of 100.

Best,
