Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

smile Good morning
slept in this am seem to have lost track of time even had to remember what day it is?!!, is it an age thing or just this time of year?

comments on £20 notes please addressed to the 'Old cadgers 'oliday fund' biggrin

£20 notes? You'd be better of with €20 notes instead the way Sterling is going! biggrin

I haven't known whether I am coming or going these last 2 days. Thursday felt like a Sunday with chores round the house and getting ready for work. Today has felt like the first day back and a Monday. Just as long as I don't go in to work tomorrow.... laughing

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Evening all

What a beautiful thing the White five pound note was. It's now a bit impossible to recognize what sort of difference it was from ordinary currency.
When I first started work in the City, my salary was £15 per month. One month when I was a bit short a much senior (in age) colleague lent me a fiver, which was one of these beautiful things. I had qualms about first using it as any shop would have looked suspiciously at the like of me pulling out a fiver.
In today's terms a starting salary in such an environment would probably be at lest £24k pa leading to an equivalent note of a value in excess of £1500; hard to imagine.

I'm also glad I didn't exchange back the small pile of Euros from my last visit to Paris. But, that was sheer laziness and no financial acumen.

It's really a blessing when you don't have to change money when going on holidays. tongue
