This looks interesting

Scientist who invented "virtual water" wins prize

A scientist who developed a way to calculate how much water is used in the production of anything from a cup of coffee to a hamburger was awarded the 2008 Stockholm Water Prize on Wednesday.

Professor John Anthony Allan of the University of London won the award for introducing the concept of "virtual water", a calculation method that has changed the nature of trade policy and research.

The Stockholm International Water Institute said this idea is now imbedded in the production of foods and industrial products.

"People do not only consume water when the drink it or take a shower," the institute said.
Behind that morning cup of coffee, there are 140 litres of water that was consumed to grow, produce, package and ship the beans."

Continues ...... wink

Bye Bye , chao hasta pronto ciao biggrin

All that water , must go and relieve myself devilish

Re: ! Re: ! Re !

Good morning all.
Having a new problem here. I've recently had a couple of WU's that failed to stop when they reached 100%. They just keep running. Is there any way to make them stop and upload or is that batch lost?

Have a great weekend. smile

Reply was Thus

Good things are working now.

Suppose you were watching a DDDT job, it bad for the eyesight to watch BOINC and it has feelings too ;? Plz dont click on anything.... it does what it does. Yes, depending on the PC speed, the DDDT suddenly overshoots in the last minutes the 1005 to race on to 109.xxx% or in your case 120%. Part of the wrap up and local validation before the result upload.

ciao

Re: ! Re: ! Re !

Hello all. smile

Did you know that your computer can do magic?

Mind Reader

It's in Dutch but I translate it for you.

The steps are:
1. Think of a number with two digits.
2. Minus the two individual digits, so for example 45 - 4 - 5 = 36
3. Look up the symbol that goes with that number in the table
4. Then hit the grey square

Can you beat the system? wink biggrin

Very simple.
Every double digit number from which you subtract the two digits will give a result that is divisible by nine.

Note every number in the table that is divisible by nine is marked with the same symbol. This common symbol changes every time you open that page by using a random generator.

Voila, system beaten explained, you can't beat mathematics.

You mean the number one cruncher in Chile? Numero Uno
I'm sure if you don't know, we don't know. Have a look and see if you recognize his nick. He's not a member of any team, so maybe you should put your recruiting hat on.
