Re: ! Re: !

Congratulations to JP who has hit over 6 Million Points!
BOBS GOT SOME CATCHING UP TO DO NOW! biggrin

Not a problem, Cappy.
It's just fine that my esteemed team mate from Santiago enjoy the spotlight.
For a while, anyway.

Four more days 'til the challenge is over and then we'll all be crunching under one roof again.

Be good to have you back Bob, the race bertween yourself and JP should prove interesting. Perhaps one day my pension will stretch to a bigger machine and I too can enter the race! wink

Re: ! Re: !

No worries, your output is just fine. This team has a fairly high percentage of dedicated crunchers. Members that return results every day and that's what makes us a solid team. Owlie's output, not withstanding, of course.

The idea is to be able to return maximum results without putting yourself in the poor house. JP and I have been almost inseparable since day one and I enjoy the constant nudge. Unfortunately (for me), every time I get a bit of a lead, he adds another machine. He obviously outclasses me in disposable income, but I appreciate a challenge.

Re: ! Re: !

Now, on the subject of stats, (a longtime no-no with this team ) has anyone wondered how well they stack up against their fellow countrymen?

BOINCstats has this info, although it's in BOINC credits which I believe are 1/7th the value of WCG points. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, check our Team Page and click on your country flag at the far right side of the columns. This will bring up a list of your countrymen/women who run the BOINC software. Just find your name in the list.

Notable entries are:
Owlie - 13th amongst the long list of Americans
JP - 2nd amongst the Chilean Crunchers
Sigal - 13th amongst her Israeli sisters
Hanski - 9th amongst his Finnish Friends

OK, that's it for stats talk...for now.

Re: ! Re: ! Re !

I am here again for short ,must sleep a while now smile

This looks interesting

Scientist who invented "virtual water" wins prize

A scientist who developed a way to calculate how much water is used in the production of anything from a cup of coffee to a hamburger was awarded the 2008 Stockholm Water Prize on Wednesday.

Professor John Anthony Allan of the University of London won the award for introducing the concept of "virtual water", a calculation method that has changed the nature of trade policy and research.

The Stockholm International Water Institute said this idea is now imbedded in the production of foods and industrial products.

"People do not only consume water when the drink it or take a shower," the institute said.
Behind that morning cup of coffee, there are 140 litres of water that was consumed to grow, produce, package and ship the beans."

Continues ...... wink

Bye Bye , chao hasta pronto ciao biggrin
