Re: Invitation to the Bunny Race

Quick question - is this purely a 'whichever team scores the most points during the contest period' type of race?

Obviously if thats the case, then looking at the teams entered we already know the winner wink - however are we also going to be producing some tables/graphs to also highlight teams which, say for instance show notable increases in their usual production etc, which will perhaps generate some interest and recognition for the smaller teams?

Re: Invitation to the Bunny Race

Good point.

The % increase in any given teams number output (and team membership increase) tells a lot more than merely having the biggest teams (obviously) churning out the greatest output.

Personally, I think the type of challenge that really counts is team recruitment challenge.

Increasing a projects membership is (in my opinion) of much grerater merit than merely having existing users increase output.

The point is really to just bring focus. The side product is recruitment and team advertizing.

Re: Invitation to the Bunny Race

Nah, not really.

All that'll happen is the massive teams and their pre-existing membership will do another one month hit and run.

No harm in that of course but I think the way to go for long term success is to have recruitment challenges.

Also, the "real" winners should perhaps be judged by percentage gains rather than purely in number terms.

EG:

Mr big team has say 100 million points......after the challenge they have say 110 mil.

Mr lil team has say 1 million points...........after the challenge they have say 2 million.

Seems to me that Mr lil team has stepped it up a lot more than mr big team.

In percentage terms the lil team beats the big team by miles. smile

@vaio,

Just look in my team thread. There's a graph of what Challenges do for persistent contribution. Not a single in-house team transfer accounts for that growth. From 120k daily to 1020k peace

Re: Invitation to the Bunny Race

There is no doubt in my mind that these challenges bring in others who once they experience being here, stay long term and hence are a worthwhile exercise - what my OP was trying to say was, as the race winner is actually a foregone conclusion, are we also going to be producing some tables/graphs to also highlight teams which, say for instance show notable increases in their usual production etc, which will generate some interest and recognition for the smaller teams?

Re: Invitation to the Bunny Race

I've just noticed that there are 2 March points challenges, the latter one lasting a week longer than the bunny one.

Everyone gonna bunny hop from one to the other on the 24th

Actually, you need to be in both races before they start. But the attention will hop on the 24th.

Realize that these races we're in now are developmental. With open play comes the needed information to form class structures and ladder competition. The other end of this comes the needed focus on tools that WCG can develop to promote this now known operation, as it is easier to fund development once it is proven.

What I do in other virtual worlds is 'test fly' leagues. So I have something of a background at knowing what works. What we are seeing right now is the end of the 'pro/am' opens and the beginnings of:

with a thread that would have something to do with this:

___

and the strange idea of a ”human drama in cybernetic competition.”

Now I can open this as soon as the bunny race starts hopping. The start date for these races would begin when this race ends. It takes time for those who want to be involved to know to come. This race will have the volume to provide an excellent launch prospect for a league. So give me an email if you want more info or early enrolment.
