Just got my first project badge! WTG!! Keep up the great work! I was going up the ladder slowly, but now I am dropping slowly. :( I guess 700+ hours a day just isn't enough anymore... Jack, WooT! But Cargod, we need hours as well as results. Your work balances the team score so we look more well rounded. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Your work balances the team score so we look more well rounded. True, but I hate to lose ground! LOL Our electric company files for bankruptcy about 2 years ago, that allowed them to get rate increases from a Judge instead of the Public Utility Commission. Rates have quadrupled since then. With energy prices at an all time high, our IT dept has decided many of our machines should be shut down when not in use. That has hurt my hours a little as many are now only powered up 9-10 hours a day instead of 24/7. ---------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I just swapped out the old machines with duo's, added a quad and now my power bill isnt a waking nightmare anymore. All for less than a grand, which is now being paid off by the power bill being lower. In your case, the answer would be to use something like this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searc...details.asp?EdpNo=1870109 connected to something like this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Searc...pNo=3288890&CatId=329 ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Updating them wouldn't make our work go any faster, so we use what we have until they die. Many of the programs we run don't work on a client/server setup. I like the dual Quad Xeon setup. I think it would be a lot faster than my dual Xeon 2.66 core solo system. I need to check and see if that board would support dual or quad core Xeons with a BIOS update. It has XP Pro, not server. But I think I have a copy of Server2003 here somewhere that I got from MSDN.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Other than the processor core speed and number of cores, the rest of the boxes are basically the same, except one uses SCSI RAID 5 and the other has SATA RAID 5. I want more Quads. |
