----------------------------------------WCG seems to have a problem as as Results Returned goes. I remember that nearly everyone on our Team was really getting a train;load of them (so to speak). I may have to add another project like FAH Vina. The problem with the folks researching SCC seem to not be able to get things the way other research teams/organizations. I'm sure this has been covered many times, but I'm amazed at how much faster WCG jobs run under Linux than under Win10. I added a 2 CPU Xeon based workstation recently and despite the slow clock speed (2.4GHz) it just flies through SCC and OpenZika jobs.
I have a 4.2GHz Win10 machine that takes, on average, 1.0 hrs to complete OpenZika jobs; the 2.4GHz Linux machine takes on average only 1.1hrs to complete OpenZika jobs, i.e. almost the same amount of time despite the 42% slower clock speed. Anyway, the Linux box has been busy running work related projects recently; when these are done I'm looking forward to letting it go full tilt on WCG to see what it can do in a 24hr period at 100%. |

Yes, that is a fact about Linux. Geez, I was tempted to convert years ago but I was not about to mess around with my PC while working on hot reqs. To lose one deal worth several thousand would really get me unhappy.
