Re: Team Andrax, The Great International Team!

New hardware on the order. I might be able to (someday)catch up to my arch rival (all in good fun) Johnny Cool :D Im very eager to see how well it can crunch at full bore. Am i correct to assume its best to only run one WU per core instead of thread?

Awesome. I read today you can install Ubuntu on a Rasberry PI, so I think I'm going to try that route out for a fun project.

FWIW, I've been running all of my CPUs with one WU per core.

My old Xeon CPUs allow two threads per core, but the additional WUs per watt really fall over, so I just run them 1 job per core.

Modern Ryzen CPUs are interesting, in that the clock speed typically lowers as you start adding more WUs than cores. For example, I get 4.4GHz running 8 jobs on an 8 core Ryzen, but as soon as go to 10 or 12 or 16 jobs the clock speed falls to 4.0 GHz or lower.

Re: Team Andrax, The Great International Team!

Neat stuff :) Show off your pi build if you feel so obliged.

Any recommendations on Linux builds? I will want to go that route for this build, I really did like Linux Mint, but willing to give others a try too

I've only ever used Ubuntu. I've installed it on a lot of different hardware without any issues, fwiw.

Re: Team Andrax, The Great International Team!

wow. that one chip is not slacking. I only wonder what the power bill is going to be next month haha. I still went win linux mint, had some setup issues but it was fixed by swapping out a more compatible video card.

I was playing around a little and it seemed like running only one task per core i could only get the utilization per core up to about 70% and it would fluctuate. Putting one Job per thread seems to cap it out much nicer, although it still hops to 80-90 per core once every few seconds.

It seems that it was doing about 1% of progress a minute on the mapping cancer markers
Estimated 1h 40m, for a full unit, however running per thread it seems to take almost double nearly 3 hours for a single work unit. I havent gotten a mod to check the clock speed yet though. Is there one you might be able to recommend so I can see if it is underclocking itself as a result?

Trying to find the sweet spot there :D

Glad to really be contributing to the team.

(Don't think i didn't notice you still in the lead above me Johnny! *Faux yells*) haha
