Perhaps I wasn't clear: the latest error you had was a one-off, and is unlikely to repeat in exactly that way.
Lawrence was only wrong about the technical details of the error - the rest of his post is spot on. |

FWIW here is the latest:
----------------------------------------The WU pending validation changed over to valid.  Neary all of the older "short" WU's that had errored have magically changed over to valid. (and yes, I have seen the related thread.)The next 8 "long WU's errored out w/ the "memory errors" after running for anywhere from 0.01 to 4+ hours.  50/50 Memory/File Size ****(ADDED AFTER INITIAL POSTING) The 9th WU ran to complettion and is pending validation. WU's 10 & 11 errored out w/ the "memory errors" after running for only a few minutes So ... I have eliminated ALL over-clocking.  If the WU's continue to fail - I'll shut down and run MEMTEST and see if that shows anything.  This really has become far more aggrevation than it is worth; but at this point everyone involved deserves an answer. OK folks:
----------------------------------------1st off I have modified the topic to show RESOLVED. Of the 3 WU's I have crunched since resetting all overclocking; all 3 have run to completion (22.29 cpu hrs.) without error and are now Pending Validation. I guess that shows a fairly definite causal link between the overclocking on this PC and the failure of WU's run on this PC. I can only assume that as the computational demands of the WU's have increased some weakness in this PC (when over-clocked) has been uncovered. We'd prefer [] brackets to easy target searches for [RESOLVED] issues.
----------------------------------------Yes accolades for you in persevering through the problem resolution and moderate the overclocking steps. Some do not believe us and go like 'No Not My Machine.... impossible.... incredible', but the WCG jobs and some other DC's count as the severest there are, but for anything doing video training on top. ciao
