Linux BOINC Client segmentation violation

A fresh install of BOINC appears to start correctly and the management GUI offers to register with a project but after registration the GUI froze and the client had crashed.
Starting the client from a terminal showed this....

SIGSEGV: segmentation violation

I tried another project and it failed the same way.

(IBM thinkpad T41 - PCLOS 2008 - Gnome)

Any suggestions ?

Re: Linux BOINC Client segmentation violation

Hello Country Bumkin,

I used Search to locate the 10 other posts listing SIGSEGV. None seemed helpful. So I am not going to be any help. Could you describe your system and Linux distro more fully, explaining just how you installed BOINC and where you got the installation package? That might give a Linux guru (not me) some ideas.

Re: Linux BOINC Client segmentation violation

Solved - finally. The user home configuration subdirectory needed to be created manually.
