I installed the BOINC version of client last week (instead of UD) as recomended on the login page.
I tried to set it to the same status, I mean "run only as screen-saver", but I didn't find such option. The only possibility is to set the delay of user inactivity after which the client should start to compute. Unfortunately I am using dual monitor system - one as local screen a nd second one as a remote desktop - the client detects the changes only on the rimary monitor. it means if I am working on the remote desktop screen, the client will very soon start to work and the computer is blocked. To write one sentence may take long time and delay between the key-press and time when the char appears on the screen can be more than 1 second. did I any error? How to set the client to work only in time when the screen saver is active? |

Hello mplanicka,
There is some confusing talk about this in http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=20702 The UD screen saver had some special code that started the application running. The BOINC screen saver is different and does not work the same way. Why does BOINC slow down your machine? How much RAM do you have? How many simultaneous threads of BOINC do you run? Lawrence |
