![]() Help! I can't find information anywhere and the forums don't seem to have a search to help find what may be buried. I installed, configured my firewall, and checked that I'm not using any proxy settings so that can't be the problem. I'm not connecting. There is a message displayed by the BOINC Client that reads "Waiting to contact project servers." what do I do next? When I look in Messages, there doesn't appear to be any errors. the last line in the log says: "fetching configuration file..." What do I do? |

Can you please copy / paste the actual message series from the top so we can read in context.

Have actually attached your pc to the project ?
After installing BOINC you have to use the Attach to Project option. If you have done this, then please copy all of the messages and post as Sekerob has asked for. |

One of the cases previously reported with that message was a malformed WCG url. But, if it's a case of just the firewall configuration, it could be permissions.

Well, for some reason everything seems to be working now and I've done nothing except for rebooting my machine (I shut it down last night and started this morning).
So thanks everyone and sorry to bother you. I've learned that I'll post the entire message log next time - hopefully there won't be a next time :) ![]() |

I have a continuing, (daily!) problem with the exact same message on the Simple view of BOINC. I stumbled into the Advanced view > Advanced tab > and found "Retry communications" which instantly busts loose whatever it is...
Sadly, it can mean four or five hours off the grid by the time I get back to my desk and run the apparent fix...wish someone could identify the underlying problem... |

"Network usage allowed" appears to me to be pretty wide open: No restriction for hours, (0:00 / 0:00) and no DOW override.

We still haven't seen the message log. Not much we can do until then.
