Hey Gerald, you still in Florida? or are you getting ready to head back home yet? Was this a working vacation? As I recall, last year, it was Maine. You do seem to get around for just an "old painter".
----------------------------------------![]() ![]() Which reminds me, I'm going to be heading back up to Washington DC next month. Leaving here the Friday before US Thanksgiving and returning on the following Tuesday (possibly Wednesday at the latest, Thursday is T-day). Getting my folks up there to see the new World War II Memorial. My dad was on the USS Columbia - a light cruiser - from '43-'45. This is my dad (most likely in 1943: http://www.wwiimemorial.com/registry/search/p...p;popcount=1&tcount=1 ). I had known that his ship had gotten hit by a kamikaze. Turns out it was hit twice: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ships/dafs/CL/cl56.html It should be an interesting trip, especially if my dad finally talks about his time in the Navy in any detail. He's 83 now. It was quite an experience seeing this (and more) last month. It was good to see so many veterans up there getting to see the memorial. Most were getting around rather slowly if they weren't in wheelchairs. Many wore their old hat or cap from their uniform. Over at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington, so many struggled to get around but didn't hesitate to stand ram-rod straight (well the 80s-year old version of it) for the changing of the guard. The best part of the memorial is that it's got the veterans talking about the war. They're a rather quiet generation, just seeing it as just a job they had to do. I got to try explaining all this to my five year old daughter while we were there. Then, when we walked down to the Lincoln Memorial, I got to try explaining slavery to her. Quite the experience. Anyway, I expect I'll need a volunteer to do a copy and paste of the team's detail stats those days. Real simple and not much work but it lets me keep a history without missing days, among other things. I'll talk more about this in the next couple of weeks. |

Dave, Keith:
----------------------------------------I will be happy to help. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I will be near my computer between now and Christmas (probably even then). If you can give me the proper instruction, I should be able to pick it up for you in your absence. Send me the instructions before you go so I can make a practice run on them if you want. Dave, if you want to do it, that is fine with me...I will serve as a backup. Whatever you guys want. Regards |

It is probably better to have you scheduled to do it with me backup the way my health has been lately. Besides, it spreads the wealth around a bit. I did it a year ago for Keith, Jonathan just recently did it. It is pretty simple. You just go to the our team page here on WCG, under the heading "Team Member Details and Statistics" you click on Sorted By "Points Generated". When you get to the list, expand it out to 250 records per page and finally, copy/paste all of the data lines from each page into a flat file (Notepad page) and save it. If you really work at it, you can make the effort take a whole five minutes. |

The dogs got me up early and wanted out. I thought it was just the usual "full bladder" request. Nope! A coyote had tree'd my cat. The Great Dane went after the coyote ... big fight ensued. The little dog jumped into it. The coyote escaped, no damage to my dogs ... the cat is still in the oak tree.
