Hang in there, you have my support and I am sure the support of the silent majority, even in mortal combat there are written rules of engagement which are promulgated before they are enforced. Thank you. I am not trying to start a flaming war. I did about decide that posting here was not for me at all. I have a dry wit at times, or not....LOL, and it has been mis-interpreted before. I appreciated the link to the rules. I do still think that perhaps the rules are done on the fly at times, but these do clarify some things. I will continue to crunch away. Posting however....hmmm....thinking.....!! ![]() |

----------------------------------------I don't think anyone wants to start a flaming war -- especially in YOUR team thread. Some of the "rules" really aren't rules, but really are more like "netiquette" that has evolved over time in this and many other forums. This particular one, the desire that each team have basically a single thread, gives more teams the opportunity to be on "Page One" of the forum and also works better for interaction between team members. Good luck with your team. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 2, 2005 6:02:48 PM] |

![]() I am in the process of having the rules updated to include clarification, so there will not be any grey areas to leave the members in doubt about the generally accepted rule by most Team Captains of running only one Team Thread in the Team Forum [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 2, 2005 9:51:35 PM] |

It seems this thread is talking about a lot more than that Graham, but that is a nice start. Thank-you

Thank you Ski, Your team is awesome. I have huge respect for our military in whatever branch. I have a son in the army guard. I will continue to crunch away. I have always enjoyed posting in forums, and have never run into this kind of rule. For general information it has taken some enjoyment out of posting here. You on the other hand have been great to validate my efforts, and have put some of the enjoyment back!!! Thanks again! WTG Marines!!! Shirley Hi Shirley It saddens me to know that you are not enjoying the Forums so much now, because of my actions as a Community Admin It can be a thankless job at times, as it is all too easy to end up on the wrong end of members criticism for, as you put it (This seems very picky to me) It seems a "simple request" to run one thread in the Team Forum has garnered quite a storm in a teacup This action was to ensure fair play amongst all the members and now I am under scrutiny for my actions and made to feel bad because of it I am willing to step down as a Community Admin, if you will fill the vacant position, to allow you to test your skills at being a diplomat, in the hope that you can do a better job than I have For general information Acting as a Community Admin, "voluntarily" in an effort to try to help to improve the Forum experience for everyone just makes these eruptions from members, that much more unpalitable! Especially when it is so easy for people to hide behind internet connections and voice their displeasure at our actions, when these aforementioned actions do not allow them to do just as they please, without any regard for other members here Community Admins are not here to have the enjoyment taken out of posting messages in the Forums either, especially when 99% of the messages are posted to help, guide and encourage members to have a better understanding of what we are trying to acomplish here. I am about ready to pass the baton for the last time to allow someone else to shoulder the burden, of what used to be a very enjoyable enormously satisfying job Here is my voluntary workload: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2187 |

It saddens me to know that you are not enjoying the Forums so much now, because of my actions as a Community Admin You are right and I think this has gone on long enough. I think you do an excellent job and far superior to what I could do. (thanks for the offer ![]() I do have a couple of suggestions though and yes I know I could put them in the suggestion thread, but hey once a rebel, always a rebel. 1) Post the forum rules on the forum front page to be very visible. 2) Have newest post on top instead of on the bottom of the page. Hi Shirley
----------------------------------------It may be of interest to you to know that I was the one who wrote the Forum rules, and it was my desire that they should be as short and unrestrictive as possible, The members here are surprisingly polite and helpful and we have never had a serious flame war in 5 months I am sure that must enlighten you to the quality and patience of the members here You do not need to apologise to me, as you have not offended me We have never kept a tight reign over the Forums, quite the contrary We have been most fortunate in the fact that we have probably got the most polite bunch of crunchers on the World Community Grid that any Forum could wish for It is our hope that everyone continues to enjoy the WCG experience The present version of the Forum software does not have the ability to lock a post at the top of a thread (comonly known as a sticky post) This will be addressed in the next version of the Forum software I have taken your suggestion on board regarding last post first and will pass it on to Admin for consideration [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 4, 2005 7:22:43 PM] |
