It would be neat, but the word of the admin is clear... not happening. In English they have a term when dictating a sentence to the secretary... it ends in "full stop".

but discounts for purchasing new PC equipment, would be neat! I take it you haven't heard the news from a year or two back then... IBM have sold off their PCD (Personal Computer Division), to a company called Lenovo. Thus, they don't make PC's anymore... See : IBM Sells PCD Division to Lenovo in 2004 ![]() |

See : IBM Sells PCD Division to Lenovo in 2004 it still has the Servers & Workstations, that IBM produces... and IBM is still a partner with Lenovo for certificating Laptops & Desktops... link: http://www-304.ibm.com/jct03004c/businesscent..._-products-_-med-hardware |

and the circle goes round & round & round... Sorry I guess you misunderstood. There are NO tangible rewards for crunching. None. Zip. Nada. Zero. Squat. Zippo. It is not IBM responsibility to pay you for volunteering. That is why they call it volunteering. You do it because you want to, not because you have to or because you are paid to do it. Let it go, please. |

Hey BarneyBadass, Just because I claimed that there were over 30,000 members aligned with a team with 'IBM' somewhere in it's name, no way implies that they're all active. In fact, I would be surprised to find a team where EVERY MEMBER was active (that is, except for the ones with very few members within them). I'm sure that some of those members have left or have never worked for IBM - these were just very rough figures... All I was attempting to say, was that it 'appears' that IBM have a strong group of people who have gotten behind and are supporting the WCG. I can agree with that. |

It would be really nifty if WCG could do something like that here... Uh Oh... I hear someone coming down the hall going to try and use their editor on this ![]() |

ok so the IRS says this:
1) was WCG created or organized under US law or some other country's law? 2) Is the WCG a qualified orginazation for charitable contribution as defined by the IRS? 2a) check publication 78 (since WCG is not identified in IRS publication as a qualified charitable orginazation; can it become listed as such?) 3). if not qualified by IRS then no. 4). if we are ok with 78 then it's likely cash. 5). time & services / check publication 526 but it says; not likely; in other words; if you wanted to try and assign a price to the cpu time it's not very likely that can be deducted. 6). perhaps we can deduct some portion of the cost of the electricity (IRS is looking a little deeper into the issue for a more concrete answer.) 7). not likely to be able to depreciate out the cost of the physical equipment. So the first thing that would need to be done would be to get WCG listed into IRS publication 78. Without that all stops. So how about it WCG can you get listed in IRS publication 78? While you are at it; see if WCG could be listed as qualified organizations in other countries so others can get the similar benefits? |
