Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Here's some food for thought...

You're a 19 year old kid.

You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley ,

11-14-1965, LZ X-ray , Vietnam. Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8 - 1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out.
Your family is 1/2 way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you'll never see them again.

As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter..!!

You look up to see an un-armed Huey!! But... it doesn't seem real because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.

Ed Freeman is coming for you..!!

He's not Medi-Vac so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway. Even after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the Doctors and Nurses.

And, he kept coming back..!! 13 more times..!!

He took about 30 of you and your buddies out who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Ed Freeman, died last Wednesday at the age of 80, in Boise , ID

May God Rest His Soul.

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure seen a whole bunch about some freakish white-gloved sexual pervert's passing..!!

Shame on the American Media..!!

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Morning everyone,
Damon, as an ex commando myself I saw many such heroics from just ordinary men, many who got nothing but the heartfelt thanks of those they helped and their friends. The world is a better place from having met them. I remember once at a re-union meeting three guys all aged 80 plus, all ex commandos and spent the day with them, just ordinary old men to most people. The following day we were to march to the local memorial service for vets, and they asked me to march alongside them, I glanced at their medals...One a VC and the other two wore the Military Cross...Just three old men?? What they did beats Pop music anyday!
(For those of you from distant shores, the VC is the highest military award issued in the UK and the Military cross is pretty darned close to it!)

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Good morning everyone.
Many thanks to you Ted and to the countless soldiers around the world and through the ages. I can't always support the people who put them in harms way but I always support the troops, for they have no choice.

Y'all have a great day smile

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Evening all

The weather stayed warm and dry for my country walk with my company pensioner mates.
It was around a place called 'no man's land' not because of any military significance but because two scions of the church could not decide in whose control it should be allocated.

Today a large section of it has been bought by the Forestry Commission and an immense new forest will be planted over the next four years. I don't think I will live to see more than a few shoots but it's good to see that woodland is still regarded as an important part of our Island.

Meanwhile, I see the Aussies are showing us what they're made of.
