It is, Old Sage. Otherwise we couldn't have reached your shores in our open boats for after some initial skirmishes to settle down combing our hair with the combs found in York and be peacefully assimilated into your society. Oy, I live in York, it's no wonder I can't find my comb, ruddy Vikings got em! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your swim, reminds me of my youth when I did my Navy Diver training in the North Sea! The same year I went to Bergan and Narvik on HMS Adamant, a cold but wonderful land. |

No, we didn't take your comb - brought our own, but there always is the occasional rascal, isn't there?
![]() So you live in York. Then you must have followed closely the digs that more or less mapped the Vikings' daily life there. It's on my wishlist. Guess I could see a lot across the North Sea (densnaps's village as well and a few Air Museums and ...) Well, thought I had finished England ![]() HMS Adamant. Looked it up. The newest one (and that it must have been that one in spite of that rascal Viking nicking you comb) was "a submarine tender launched in 1940". Could I make you tell your story, Edwardian? we also have light grey wind he-he, Wishbone ![]() ![]() |

HMS Adamant Launched 1940. Yep thats the one! Was based at Faslane on the west coast of Scotland when I was on her, I think it was 1960. We called her a Submarine Depot Ship. It was the last ship I served on, after I left her I went to Royal Naval Hospital at Gosport in Hampshire, (RNH Haslar) then to Royal Naval Air station at Lossiemouth Scotland
(HMS Fulmar) then to the ITCRM at Lympstone Devon arriving in 1963. 1964-1967 saw me in Aden (Now part of the Yemen) Then back to Lympstone for my final two years before leaving the Navy in 1969. |
