Re: What is the progress so far?

Just added my new baby to this project.
biggrin

It certainly took you long enough. wink

I'm glad that you're now on this project. And with some serious horsepower to boot! cool I dedicated two computers (one of them - the old slow one tongue - is on Sparky's account though) to HFCC as soon as the project started. My other two computers are still running a "mixed bag" of projects.

What? biggrin
Board arrived at my house Tuesday the 24th, machine running on Saturday..
leave me alone! I'm old and don't have the energy you "youngsters" do! laughing

Re: What is the progress so far?

@Movieman: When you first built your i965 you edecribed it on XS, and showed crunching times for HCC, with a comparison of thoughput with and without Hyperthreading enabled. From (wetware) memory, HCC throughput on HCC is about 17% faster with HT enabled. Some earlier posts on WCG said that with the old P4 chips, it was generally better to leave HT off, except perhaps for HCC. This is probably because HCC uses mostly integer calculations, while most others use more floating-point.
Have you had a chance to repeat the HT on/off test with a WCG project that runs Autodock, such as HFCC?

* This thread is a bit off-topic ... is there somewhere else suitable for a crunching hardware thread?
* Power consumption: Q9650 @ 3995MHz, 1.288V; Asus P5K3 dlx mb, P35 NB 1.55V; Video: GeForce 7300 SE (a low-end card); Cooling: Corsair Nautilus 500 (so it's running a water pump) === 210W for about 19000 pts/day. I think it's in the ballpark of your sossamans.

The Chat Room. A request for a Tweakers Room never found ear, regrettably.

Running HFCC on the Gainestown and it's output with HT on is right in line with 2-nehalem single socket machines with HT on..BIG improvement vs shutting HT off.
The sossaman rig draws 117w at 100% load.
