Broke a favorite glass unloading the dishwasher this morning. Wouldn't be so bad except all the little pieces sprinkled into my bunny slippers.

One of the duallies decided it didn't like the power fluctuations in the night, even with a surge protector. So much for the Office Max house brand...
Started up OK this morning and back crunching. |

...a 900 Watt UPS [Uninterruptible Power Supply (Battery Back Up)] goes for around $100! You don't HAVE to plug in the Monitors and Printers though it's a good idea ....900W will protect your precious children during Spikes, Brownouts and Total Losses, with power down software if you install it....I run 3 each 1200Watt units and they have taken a couple serious hits in the past few months, with minimal collateral damage

15 years ago, I committed to use a UPS with every computer. Saved my hide many times. There's nothing like having the lights go out at work, hearing the screams down the hall, while sitting smugly at my desk knowing that I have 5 minutes to save the spreadsheet I have been working on for the last half hour.

Although, the sound of 6 UPS's screaming out at 3:00am when the power goes out, is a terrifying sound! Mental note, I should look to see if they have a silent alarm setting . . .
