Announcing the birth of:

Hairy Carie (Yep, looks just like the others)

This completes my summertime rebuild; 30 cores & 15 cards. Now if it would just get cool enough to run them. 104 tomorrow. sad

Hi all,

new badges seem to be OK now. Wonder who will have the most sapphires.....

cheers,

Gerard

That will be interesting to see. It sure is colorful!

Hum... I don't care for it much.

YUK!! How gaudy.. Another bauble instead of upgrading the forum software. I don't care for it much either.

Hot!! And dead calm to boot. Not much relief in sight until Saturday. sad

I think I recall seeing something on this in the Suggestions/Feedback forum. I believe some folks thought gold came too quickly for folks with more than one or two machines. I have to wonder if enough of the "competitions wonks" got into crunching just the new project only that keeping the WU supply fed required more attention than usual? After all, with a new project, you don't want to be running out of work the first few weeks of the project. With the additional badges, getting to "the top" is not as quick a task when you have to do two years crunching instead of three months. It was also probably a rather easy change to add too.

Now if you were in Chicago instead of CA, it'd be Harry Carey!

104....who cares about the heat index. That's just plain hot (I don't care HOW dry it is either). After spending the mid-80s to mid-90s in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, I had my fill of heat. I remember going thru two and a half gallons of water a day landscaping the yard. As I recall, it was about 300 feet of fence, 125+ landscape timbers, a lot of rock and mulch (think mounds the size of a large car) along with some fruit trees, plumbing and a big 18x24x3 (that's feet, not inches) hole for the rock (dug with a shovel no less). Learned a lot besides drinking lots of water. For a good privacy fence, run 2x4s between 4x4 square posts and nail clear grade 1x6 cedar to that. You'll never have to deal with whole sections of fence falling off and with no knots, the fence corners disappear. It all looks like one straight stretch no matter where you look. Oh, double-hung gates framed out of 2x4s will need a couple of extra hinges at the top but the double hung part is real nice. This was all on a 70x110 lot too with the vast majority in the backyard no less. Did get a lot of odds looks from folks driving by (where's he putting all that stuff???) but also got plenty of chuckles from vairous homes on the street suddenly sprouting a new bed or tree or such. What I doubt I'll ever forget though was how, at the end of a day, a musty, stale locker room seemed like a perfume factory compared to me. You got out of things real quick when you went inside. Nowadays, at my age, mid-90s is bad enough.

I moved recently from South Texas, also commonly known as North Mexico.. Low to High 90's isn't uncommon.. even in JANUARY.. Just isn't right, huh? Add to that a regularly very high humidity (right on the water), and you had the makings of a steam bath..

Fast forward to a couple of months ago.. it's much nicer here in Missouri.. don't get me wrong, it's hot here too.. but not nearly as bad.. and half of my house is underground.. where it always seems cool.. devilish

Okay... announcing the birth and subsequent name change at the WCG Hall of Records/County Courthouse..

The artist formerly known as "Mom's Laptop" is now...

Madonna

The artist formerly known as "Mike's Oldest PC" (which is now really only about 6 weeks old) is now...

Mick Mars

The artist formerly known as "Mike's Newest PC" (which is now only about a week or so crunchitating.. as GWB would say..) is now..

Nikki Sixx

Yeah, I know.. Madonna doesn't fit the other two.. but it's a nicer name than "Pamela Lee Anderson" and much easier to type.. lol

can you guess my favorite band now?

Back to work tomorrow.. wink

The town I came from, in South Texas, is called "Corpus Christi"...

It was founded in 1839...

Now, in 170 years of history of this formerly semi-okay city, there has only been one recorded snow on Christmas Day..

December 25th, 2004.. and the snow stayed on the ground until the next morning.. :) hasn't snowed since..

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 37 smilesmile

So much for heat relief this weekend. The new forecast is 104F today, then 106, 106, 104 & 103. sad Someday I will crunch again.

I'm remined of that saying of the hitchhiker caught in a West Texas hail storm. You can't run, you can't hide and you can't make it stop!

Good morning MOT.

coffee

BTW: Where is Chris????
