Re: Members Current Ranking

But today I retired, so my scores are unlikely to come down much further as I'm sure the machines will slowly be retired too. Still, I got down below the 1000 mark in the points rank about a week ago and that leaves me with a sense of achievement. And I've still got an advert for WCG in my mail footer in the continuing search to gain new volunteers.

Now I just need to figure out if I can afford to use electrical heating in my home office...

CONGRATS on your retirement,
I'm sure BOINC will be a good hobby for you to keep you busy.
It's helped as I've sat unemployed for months (Sorta my own
choice when my company lost the contract, but I decided to not
stick with the new one as I strike out in a new direction so don't
feel sorry for me, unlike many who can't find work at all)

And about heating, the computers keep the edge off the cold
(already below freezing at night here in Canada) and with the sun
streaming in during the days haven't turned the furnace on yet cool

EDIT: Oh by the way,
1350 RANK
17 Million points,
17 years
Still pushing for Christmas 1000!

You reached rank 100. A very small effort still to do before you enter the double digit club.
I hope to reach you soon. wink

Gil II, be careful. Time flies. wink
If you do more than 1 day runtime per day, then sooner or later you will catch your gandkids. But I see you have an average of 13 hrs per day. This means that you are getting younger than your kids with every day that passes. You found the elixir of eternal crunching life. wink

Myself (with a recent average of about 150 days per day) I am in a rat race to catch Methuselah (he lived 969 years so I have still 900 years to go). If I can keep 1 year runtime in 4 days then I just need to crunch for .........10 years at the same rate.
According to Moore Law that would suppose a doubling of power every two years. A doubling of cores every two years means that we should have in two years a 12 core (24 core with HT) Intel CPU. Then in four years a 24 core (48 with HT). If my finances can keep up then Methuselah age could be reached in 5 years. Impressive. biggrin

Re: Members Current Ranking

Hypernova,
Things have changed. I really did not do much crunching until last year and then only in my desktop.

Then I got the bug. I am actually doing 4 or 5 days per day now. I recruited my wife's laptop (dualcore), my six years old desktop (dualcore too) and I have a new laptop (dualcore) so now I have six cores crunching. I am hoping to replace the desktop with an i7 or a phenom X6 soon. So may be I will catch up with my grandsons (I have a 5 month old - I was ahead of him when he was born, , a 3 and a 4 year old).. still I am too far from 150 days/day so no Mathusalen for me.

But I'll keep crunching!
