Good morning MOT. Well, Jonathan rattled my cage and I had to loan more out. This time I loaned money to a woman by the name of Shade Osakue who runs a computer business center in Nigeria. I now have my money at work in Vietnam, Cambodia, Togo, Ghana, Peru, Azerbaijan and Nigeria. It is kind of fun having my money travel the world, even if I can't. MyOnlineTeam at Kiva.

I'm so happy to see everyone taking part in this! KIVA is a truly humanistic organization that matches needy people in the third world not with faceless banks, but with real people. And in turn, those people can see the very real changes their "contributions" make to people in such desperate circumstances. And by the way, "contribution" goes in scare quotes because such a high percentage of loans are repaid, even to us atheists!

Or, in the words of A Humanist Manifesto III:
"Working to benefit society maximizes individual happiness. Progressive cultures have worked to free humanity from the brutalities of mere survival and to reduce suffering, improve society, and develop global community. We seek to minimize the inequities of circumstance and ability, and we support a just distribution of nature's resources and the fruits of human effort so that as many as possible can enjoy a good life."
