Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 39 smilesmile

I am thinking about moving to Kingsland Tx. anyone know something about the area?

I have not spent any time in Kingsland but all around there. That is in the Texas hill country. It is near Llano, Marble Falls, and not too far from Austin. I love the area. It is about 1.5 hours from here. It would be about 45min drive into Austin. Just for current reference it is about the same distance from Ft. Hood. Looks like a really neat place on the Colorado river. Really pretty country. I will be down in that area in about two weeks.. seeing my son in Austin. If you want me to do something for you, let me know.

I did get a little ways out to the northwest from Austin and it is pretty country. I don't think you'd have the humidity like down in Houston but it will be hot in the summer. Don't know about the specific area but parts of Texas have had some drought problems in recent years. I've also known Austin and San Antonio to get LOTS of rain all at once ( I think the worst I recall was 14 inches in San Antonio but that was over 3 or 4 days). Still, be sure you're well away from any flash flood areas. The rivers in that part of Texas are known to rise rather quickly.

Wow ... some 27-8 years ago, I camped at Lake LBJ (yep named for the the prez wink ) near Kingsland. Beautiful area but I am sure it has been developed more now. I can't say I remember much of the town of Kingsland though. We were meandering our way to Austin. If I had to live in Texas, it would be in Austin. cool

Howdy MOT!

Hello DataMan. We miss you.
LBJ was born and raised just south of there (30-40 miles). In between Fredricksburg and what is now Johnson City... on the Perdenales River.
