Just noticed.. i'm up to 6 ruby badges lately.. :) Pretty soon I believe i'll have a 1 year badge on HCMD2.. Where is everyone else at as far as those milestones?

I have all projects selected.. I might do another mostly "pediatric" run for a few days.. we'll see..

Honored to have had the opportunity, Jonathan.

I read in the news that Harvard not only shows pride for success of alumni in business, law, medicine and the humanities, as a plaque was unveiled today honoring 12 alumni who have been awarded our nations highest military recognition, the Medal of Honor. Only our service academies have more recipients among their alumni.


Let me know if anyone is interested in seeing pics of the Memorial Church they're referring to in the article. It is quite magnificent, and the tributes to fallen soldiers that dominate the walls are quite moving.


It's also important to remember this:

"In recent years, Harvard has often found itself at odds with U.S. military policy. The school kicked ROTC off campus during the Vietnam War and later stripped the program of its funding because of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward gays."

I found an article online from The Weekly Standard which was published around graduation in 2008 that is quite insightful regarding ROTC and its future at Harvard.


I find the ROTC issue fascinating. On one hand, I totally support Harvard's desire to not be associated with an institution with a bigoted policy like Don't Ask, Don't Tell. On the other hand, I think that it is unfortunate that Harvard students who want to be involved in the military have to go to MIT (god forbid...). Hopefully, Obama and crew will end Don't Ask Don't Tell, and then this argument will be moot.

Well, Harry Truman ended segregation in the military a good bit before the most visible part of the fight for civil right. Perhaps Obama will take the same type of approach and simply issue an order ending it. However we may see the issue, under our Constitution and our laws, it is and should be irrelevant. I'm not particularly fond of the KKK or neo-Nazi groups but we have to afford them the same rights we do ourselves whether we like it or not.

I thought you were looking a bit in the pink lately. biggrin It will be interesting to see you start turning green though. wink Not to worry, it's just a temporary condition before you turn blue! laughing

Edit: I doubt have too many more badges left if they don't bring on a new project. Two more emeralds (for HCMD and HFCC) and sapphire for both of them and Rice.
