New map of Antarctic geothermal heat suggests Steig & Mann 2009 weren’t measuring ‘global warming’
----------------------------------------This is quite interesting. Remember the claim in on the front cover of Nature in 2009 by Steig and Mann that Antarctica was warming, thanks to that “special Mannian PCA math sauce” that was applied to air temperature data to smear surface temperature trends over the entire continent? It was dashed by climate skeptics who wrote a paper. It was accepted for publication and disproved (in my opinion) by a team of credible skeptics that wrote a counter-paper. But, there’s an interesting twist thanks to new and surprising data; Steig and Mann may have captured surface air temperature trends in the exact same areas that have been identified as geothermal hot spots. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/11/15/new-ma...measuring-global-warming/ ![]() |

News item from DR (Denmark's Radio) this morning:
The Danish government will dump coal for production of electricity by 2030. New off shore wind farms are cheaper than new coal power plants The Danish government will officially announce today at the COP23 climate summit in Bonn, Germany, that Denmark decided to join a coalition of countries that will outphase coal from electricity production. "The price of renewable energy is shrinking and we have reached a point where new offshore wind farms are cheaper than new coal power plants in Denmark," says Energy, Supply and Climate Minister Lars Chr. Lilleholt. "It is crucial that we show a good example. When we want other countries - not least the developing countries - to change, it is important that we go first,” he says. And the countries meeting in the climate summit are already heading in the right direction. Last year some US$250 billion was invested worldwide in new renewable energy technologies such as solar cells and wind turbines, reports from UN Environment Program, UNEP shows. That is more than double of the some US$115 billion invested in 2006, 10 years ago. In Denmark there are three large coal-fired power plants, all of which will have abandoned using coal by 2030. |

The supposed wind and solar alternatives involve massive land use, environmental, ecological, economic, and human health and welfare impacts. Based on my previous rough calculations, using wind power to replace all current US electricity generation(3.5 billion megawatt-hours per year) … and charge batteries for seven windless days of backup power … would require some 14 million 1.8-MW bird-killing turbines, each one 330 to 410 feet tall, across some 210 million acres (twice the size of California). The backup power would require some 700 billion 100-kWh Tesla battery packs (also requiring vast acreage).
----------------------------------------The raw materials required to build all these turbines, batteries and transmission lines – would be astronomical; the earth removal, mining, processing, smelting and manufacturing even more so. And this doesn’t even consider what it would take to replace today’s vehicles with electric versions, or (in a truly fantasy world) replacing the energy for foundries, refineries and factories with wind or solar power. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/11/18/virginia-goes-don-quixote/ ![]() |

Shame on those "bird killing turbines", as well as those "human killing poles on sides of the road"!

Announcement from Vestas on November 16, 2017:
Today, Vestas has signed a conditional agreement for the supply of wind turbines for a 300 MW project in North America. If and when the project translates into a firm and unconditional order in accordance with Vestas’ definition, Vestas will disclose a company announcement about this. Some Americans with money to spare must believe in this birdkilling madness ![]() - and the kids are indoctrinated, too ![]() - one big Danish conspiration ![]() |

The latest annual United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP23, ended on Friday accomplishing nothing but a new collection of news stories about politicians from countries around the world taking credit for climate change leadership, and expressing outrage that Donald Trump announced that he was leaving the previous climate change agreement, and thereby allowing the world to slide into planetary climate disaster.
----------------------------------------German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in particular, has been a world leader in feigned environmental concern. Years ago, she promised to close Germany’s nuclear power plants, saying that they were too dangerous. She has repeatedly lambasted Trump for pulling out of the Paris climate change agreement. But it now turns out that Germany is not anywhere close to meeting its CO2 emission commitments, and in fact is going backwards. Germany’s carbon emissions have not declined for nearly a decade, and in fact have been increasing for the last three years. http://www.climatedepot.com/2017/11/19/africa...Depot+%28Climate+Depot%29 ![]() |

When asked by the CNN interviewer how he would explain away the fact that 97 percent of scientists with the government, NASA and other institutions all accept global warming as settled science, Coleman claimed that it’s all about the money. Apparently, the government makes $2.5 billion in funding available for climate science each year, but will only fund studies that support the global warming hypothesis. Climate scientists who actually want to work, therefore, have no real choice: If they want to get the money, they have to support the global warming position.

Apple, Google, and Facebook all bought land in Denmark for establishing data centers to profit from ’green wind turbine electricity’ and the positive reputation that gives them in a world where social media set the agenda.
Here we are constructing the power transformer plant for Apple: ![]() You could say there is more than one way to skin a green energy cat and profit from it ![]() |
