I don't have the money but am seriously considering a cheapo i7 build---and if Poem goes gpu I may get a couple of cards too.

tricking an AMD athy 64 2.4X1 to a Phenom X4 9650 (2.3X4.... Socket AM2+)

Just this past month I upgraded an Athy64 2.6X2 to a Phenom9650 (2.3X4) and added an ATI 4850 GPU and a 750 W PSU to feed it....I'm on a roll!!!!!

Nice.

I don't really have an upgrade path with my older rigs.
The only possibility would be to add gpu's, but then I would also need beefier psu's.

Don't think I can let my electric bill climb much higher crying crying

Emphasis is on projects with "real world" application/potential for the betterment of mankind.....eg bio-medical/environmental etc.

accountants only deal with.oo numbers ....I'm more interested in formula's and seeing that a+b=c and proofing that c-b=a
