Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 40 smilesmile

Now for the good news! Got a call from Dave. He doesn't expect to get out of the hospital until early next week but they have moved him out of the ICU. Don't get too scared about that last part though. Basically, Dave's behaved just like the rest of us usually do. He hasn't kept his leg up like he should and got a little lax on his meds and had some fluid build up. That's better now and he's out of ICU. The thing when you're fighting fluid build up is that you usually take some kind of diuretic (which is also what most of the older blood pressure meds are). Who likes spending more time on the throne than anywhere else. The real blame is that Dave is hooked on the net and playing with his machines. Looks like he'll go after some ways to keep doing that but keep his leg up too. Dave's going to be fine!

Thanks for the update. Glad he will be OK soon.

Good news smile

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 40 smilesmile

From reading about the latest California quake, it sounds like the damage is not as bad as expected. It would appear that the impact was not that widespread. Whatever the case, hope everyone out that way is okay!

The Eureka / Ferndale area is a long ways away from Silicon Valley. Although it registered about 6.5, I didn't even feel this one. We had a little 4.2 quake a few days ago about 25 miles miles away. It didn't do any damage, but was felt throughout the area.

Yea, been thru Crescent City, and probably Eureka, taking the 101 up from the Bay Area on the "Road Trip" years back before heading over to Crater Lake. Forgot how far it was (we called it a night in Grants Pass). The geology back east here is rather different it seems. We've had a couple of 2.x's here that were centered 200-300 miles away and they felt like a freight train going right under the house. I understand the "big one" that hit Charleston, SC way back was felt here in the Atlanta area. Despite having been able to see a tornado looking straight up, I think I'd take that over earthquakes though it's still a bit like choosing between two poisons.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 40 smilesmile

We have about 80 days worth of run time left to go so we should hit our first millennium of crunching about mid-day (UTC-wise) tomorrow. Everyone ready to celebrate MOTY1K? laughing

Now that darth_vader has made the MOT Millionaires, it looks like Airwolf_Liu is next in line to make in it about another week.

Rene Punt from the Netherlands rejoined our crunching ranks last Friday and is well into our Top Twenty already. Well done!

We do get tornadoes here once in a great while. One touched down in Sunnyvale a few years back and did not hold together very long. There's usually a funnel cloud reported somewhere in the bay area just about every other year. It'll be fine with me if they never get any more common here.

I will bite. What kind of toy? I assume that it has nothing to do with model trains. smile

Nope, although model trains would be kind of cool..

got a core i7 860, solely for crunching at this point. Took me awhile to get it situated to use all 4 cores and 8 threads. What a mess. I'm not as computer literate as i'd like to be.
