I think World Community Grid is growing, but it have much more potential. Here I things that hamper it and my humble ideas on improving it:
1. When passing WCG invitation link - people usually do not understand what it is, what advantages it got, are afraid of viruses. So the team join page should state in one lines / what it is, that it is safe, that they only have to install it.

2. Registration required - make anonymous default user, so that if you get to WCG, the easiest way to join would be to just install application and forget it. After lets say 1 week it could do popup asking nicely to register to have your own points/results collected.

3. WCG application should have some added value. Show the map with all members and allow to send them message.

4. Possibly WCG could make some lottery system for people who joined the project. Possibly additional one for people with better rankings to motivate everybody.

[TOT]How off topic can it get. Never heard of someone having to renew certificates to the point that it irks. Never had to do this in the 4.5 years that I've been crunching for WCG. Please contact support so they can work with you to resolve this.[/TOT]
