Re: Beta's ignored by BOINC

Per Uplinger there were 1000 tasks that went out in quorum 3 (he notes the total of 3000 in the announcement). Per lunch 2,820 had already validated. The snap-up was exceptional as were the returns, for only when a Beta task is returned, will a new one be allowed to be fetched [a great motivational]... what with 3000, that's kind of 3-5 hours after start pretty improbable, lest there are the repairs... but this HFCC test is to me more of an affirmation than a true Beta... very few repairs.

Sek, sorry for the confusion here. There were initially only going to be 1000 tasks. We bumped that number up to 3000. These were sent out with quorum of 2.

Currently the BETA is running very well. Error rate is very low. I believe all tasks have been sent out.

Re: Beta's ignored by BOINC

Sekerob, are you saying that the beta is basically already done? All WU were sent out already and almost all of them were sent back?
maybe this will help. Yesterday WCG completed 573,893 tasks. In one day. Divide that by 24 hours and you get almost 24,00 WU being sent out each hour. This Beta had 6,000 WU (3000 x 2). Since the beta WU are being sent out at the same time as the other projects (mixed) it might take 1-2 hours to send all the beta WU

Re: New HFCC Beta test

Got 8, 4 of which just arrived without knobbing the device profile, all valid, processing in under 4 hours each.

Got 11 all done in under 2 hours each.

Re: New HFCC Beta test

The Betas are usually only few minutes in feeders. (exept CPE2 beta which was very large and linux only).
Demand is too high
Most valuable WU for badge hunters. :-)

I had 3 HFCC Betas.
2 were in quorum 3 and 1 was in quorum 2.

Re: New HFCC Beta test

My MacBook Pro snagged one. Completed in a little over 7 hours.

One question, while it was running, the old HFCC screensaver would start but there were not active graphics on it. Just the white background with the static graphics at the top and bottom of the screen, but the moving boy was not present.

Re: New HFCC Beta test

That is how the graphics for BETA are shown. It limits what is displayed on all beta applications. We do that mainly for new applications, but the code to do it stays after the application has gone to production.

Re: New HFCC Beta test

I have two machines crunching pretty much 24/7, both quad core AMD's at 2.86GHz. One is running Ubuntu 64bit the other Windows 7 64bit.

I have been running WCG for over 2 years CPU time and have never received a Beta WU even though my profile is set to receive them crying

Is there a trick to getting them or do you have to be lucky?
