Re: Join The International Team

So I just got my new machine running. 12 more threds going at 4GHz, so this is going to be fun. It's hot as he.. where my computers are, but I guess thats the price of the game.

Quick about my self. My name is Karl and I'm 36 years old and I run around the house all day. I used to work in sales, but I hit the wall and found out that I have bipolar dissorder. I'm on disability now.

I was on wcg a few years ago for a bit and now I'm back. It gives me a good feeling to help out.

Re: Join The International Team

Crunching all day long. It's good that the summer is really bad in Norway this year, so I can keep my machines running.

It helped to get the new machine running. Now running a total of 36 threads :)

Re: Join The International Team

Hello Chris and Karl.
Just popping by, wishing a great weekend!

32 36 threads, that's really nice Karl; I'm at 18 threads at the moment, though looking for a 6950X upgrade (honestly too expensive though) or some Engineering sample Xeon CPU upgrade. We'll see....

Wishing a good night from Sweden.

Re: Join The International Team

Hope everyone here is having a good summer, plan on getting back to crunching harder soon after i recently uppgraded my main rig to a i7-6800k 6/12 cores so i can keep crunching while still using it. So the old normal i7 will be a dedicated cruncher once this insane summer heat is done...wtb a basement

And welcome to my fellow Norwegian biggrin

Re: Join The International Team

Kjetil, great to hear that you are upgrading your crunching power, every WU counts!

Thanks Chris!
Good to hear it is healing in the right direction, even if it is not healing as quickly as we all hoped for.

Yesterday I lost my Seasonic 600W PSU :( Something smelled burnt...
I've had it running for 10 or 13 years though - crunching 24/7 most of the time - so I guess it had done its toll. Also, being a Seasonic unit, it failed pretty gracefully. Something burnt out a bit, but it did not take any other components with it or create any smoke (just a little bit of a smell, but not too bad actually). Graceful degradation/failure - a key to high end PSUs!

Now I have swapped it out for a Fractal Design Tesla R2 800W that I had laying around, intended for another cruncher...but it will have to be put on ice for a while anyway so this PSU has now come to good use!

Perhaps the summer heat killed the old Seasonic PSU...
Anyway, it's up and crunching again!

Re: Join The International Team

Hello team,

Oh yes, it sure did, Chris! i am very glad that it failed gracefully, not killing my CPU or RAM or SSD or Motherboard while doing so.

Happy to be crunching on again! :)
