What I will be proposing is that we add a configuration option to the profiles that you can set on the website. This will allow you to bypass all restrictions for cep2 (both the bandwidth and the 1 result per machine) if you choose to. As others have said, this sounds like a much better implementation. I have four machines running 24x7, but they run various versions of Windows so I am continually searching this forum looking for an update for Windows for CEP2. I have not gotten any WUs for doing beta testing so I cannot comment from experience. ![]() ![]() |

I believe the best solution is whatever minimizes the number of invalid WU. If the Techs believe it is OK to allow crunchers to override the standard, then that is their decision. BUT in the case where a machine twice returns the error that is caused by having more than 1 WU running simultaneously, then the server could turn off the 'multiple WU' flag for that computer.

I'm curious to know what kind of issues you had and with which projects? My experience with CEP2 and the I/O issues: 1. Memory stick, FAT formatted. All but CEP2 ran on that. All CEP2 tasks just errored out after a couple of seconds. 2. Same memory stick, now with a smaller FAT partition and a 4 GB EXT2 partition for BOINC. This runs well, even with 2 CEP2 jobs running in parallel 3. Linux 32- or 64-bit, booting from memory stick, but BOINC on the Windows NTFS partition: All projects run, including CEP2. However, CEP2 is extremely unefficient and spends a terrible amount of CPU time with disk I/O. All other projects work just fine in this configuration. Regards, Martin ![]() |

I set up a new installation of Ubuntu 9.04 to use an old kernel, and got a CEP2 along with a CMD2, but halfway through the CMD2, got a second CEP2. Looks like it wasn't by accident. :-)

I'm seeing two active at same time on my machine. Hopefully they'll increase this to 4 soon.

Then i will have a chance to get a WU inclusive a Beta from CEP2. With my DSL 6000 is no chance befor. A mixing with downloads (HCMD2, HPF) last time had no affect to the wrong measuring of my bandwith. Thank you and good luck to your nomination. Horst ( im "Bandbreiten-Jungle) ![]() |
