Re: HCC with GPU

IMO The GPU and CPU stats should be split, believe me if the WCG GPU app is as efficient as some of the other Boinc GPU apps then I would fore-see some unhappy campers, an example

They'll get over it. smile Or join the party.

As soon as I know where and when the party starts, I'll be there.

John, I think you want to place
http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/wcgsig/719771.gif inside of img and /img brackets so you would get the following:

BTW, I put mine in my signature and I don't know if you did the same.
When I tried this for you, I apparently had a character for the next line following the ] after img and your image did not display.

Re: HCC with GPU

For flexibilty, WCG may want to keep the statsData from GPU-based-crunching separate from the current CPU-only based crunching statsData. If ever statsData-merging is inevitable, WCG can always merge them later. To start off incorporating the GPUstatsData with the CPUstatsData would throw away that flexibility -- and should the merge idea prove to be the wrong approach, untangling the merged data would be a nightmare.

A separate statsData for the CPU and that for a GPU would allow each to grow to its fullest potential, un-compromised from having to live with the weaknesses of the other. Independent suspension on each of the four wheels of a car still offers the smoothest ride, easiest and straightforward maintenance, fault isolation, and superb maneuverability and response to varying road conditions.

As for the other devices, I recommend the same approach: separate statsData. The alternative is to find a common ground between specialized devices and merging them as one, compromising the capabilities of each, making maintenance convoluted, and growth difficult.

Many thanks for the help, dkt: I will try to get it right for my next post.
