Re: HCC with GPU

Kronos Group released CLU (Computer Language Utility):
"In a nutshell, CLU is essentially a combination of a lightweight API and a template library intended to greatly simplify OpenCL development prototyping. As OpenCL was designed to be a relatively low level language (ANSI C), it takes quite a bit of effort to write a program from scratch due to all the facets of OpenCL that must be dealt with. CLU in turn provides a lightweight API that sits on top of a number of templates, the whole of which is designed to abstract away some of that complexity, allowing developers to get started more easily"

I hope this help developers of HCC!!!

Maybe you should send this idea to Dr. David Anderson at Berkeley and Seti, he is the main Boinc programmer, he designed and still maintains the Boinc software. Maybe he could include it in the Server side of things to help those projects that need a little help to use gpu's for their own projects.

.. but is the most of the challenge in the "client side" ? I mean that BOINC sends the WU ( and the program to run the WU once ..) to the client computer which crunches the WU and report back the result to project .. So the CLU should more be needed the programmers of the program which crunches the WU, not in the BOINC side ? Of course the BOINC running in the "client" should be "GPU-aware" but if I am right the current ( > 7.0.2X ? ) versions can have GPU-projects running ?

I was thinking more of Dr. Anderson of just including it as a 'possible' client side piece of software. And 7.0.28 is now the 'recommended' version but I have seen people saying they are using 7.0.33. I personally am using 7.0.31 on one pc and have been running gpu projects since the early version 6 series.
