Today we have the great pleasure of hosting Prof. Joshua Schrier from Haverford College. He is a longtime friend of the project and some of his students have been involved in CEP at some point or another. Today, he’ll give the first Harvard Quantum Science & Chemistry Seminar seminar of the term which is jointly organized by the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology (CCB) and the Institute for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics (ITAMP). The title of his talk is “Quantum Chemical Engineering: The feasibility of isotope separation using quantum tunneling effects in nanostructures”.

I do wish we could find a way to get more people to participate. :P

Hi Wolf834,
yes, we are completely on board with this. Hope that the participation gets a bit of a boost now that the summer heat is mostly gone. Best wishes Your Harvard CEP team |

Apparently, Alan gave an online seminar (in Spanish) about the Clean Energy Project to a crowd at ITESM Monterrey today. Have to find out the details and how it went .

Yesterday, we dispatched Martin and Supriya to a workshop on cheminformatics, data mining, and data modelling. We hope they had an interesting time there and come back with a big bag of new insights and ideas.

Also yesterday, the chemistry department hosted Prof. Peter Rossky from the University of Texas at Austin to give this year’s R.B. Woodward Lecture in the Chemical Sciences, Physical Chemistry Seminar, which he titled "Exciton Dynamics and Dissociation in Conjugated Molecular Materials". It was a very interesting talk on a topic at the very heart of the Clean Energy Project. We were very fortunate to also get a meeting slot with him for the CEP team.

You can notice that the new term has started because we now get to enjoy loads of visitors and interesting talks again. Today we hosted Christopher Wilmer from Northwestern University who gave a talk on "Algorithmic Exploration of 'Building-Block' Chemistry" in the context of metal-organic frameworks. Very impressive work and with a lot of parallels to CEP.

We are now moving on to implement some fingerprinting in our datasets. This will allow us to identify relationships between different structures which we can then correlate with certain properties.
