Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

I'm looking at the molecule depicted in the cleantechnica article and am a bit puzzled. It's got a bridged ring system, multiple stereocentres, and generally looks as if it would be hard to synthesize (although my chemistry is very rusty). It also seems to lack conjugated double bonds which I thought were a requirement for organic photovoltaic materials. Is this molecule representative of those looked at by CEP2?

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Hi svincent,
good observation - the depicted molecule has nothing to do with the CEP and it most certainly is not an organic semiconductor. It looks like some biomolecule. The bottomline is that the author of the article just made up a molecule or used some stock picture... We always offer our feedback to journalists, but sometimes they pass and something funny comes out in the end.
Best wishes from

smile
The great new CEP website has broken your link to "recommended CEP2 settings".

Seems like it is always that way. 2 steps forward then your heels slip forward and you are sliding on your back!
