I just read this on our local TV station's website: http://www.14wfie.com/story/13850263/spokeo
I was amazed at how much it showed about me by my name, by my usernames, by my phone number, and by my email addresses. Spokeo.com even showed the Google Map picture of our house. I know all this info is out there in cyberspace, but it really bothered me that so much was shown on a single website. I went through my online email accounts (Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail) and changed my profiles. I deleted my MySpace account. To protect myself on Facebook, I followed these directions: http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=12043&ref_query=spokeo To protect myself on Yahoo: http://pulse.yahoo.com/ Then I went to the opt out page of Spokeo: http://www.spokeo.com/privacy From what I read, I doubt it will do much good, but I tried. |

Don't you worry Debs... in the US there is active collecting and trading with your medical information each time you file a prescription and combo'd with your Google Maps data, assessments are made if you're able to fund the treatment your body or mind might be needing in some uncertain future. Once your data was on the internet, it's already mined... too late. The Chief Google lawyer also made the news here in the last few days. Translated, he said something like "sod it with privacy". The Zuckinburgs are everywhere :O
