Re: 'Globe update recognition thread'

SNURK, if you write up and FAQ, how to get it, what it all tells, the ranking list of those having the sig, the globes, the multipliers and divisers, how you got to the GFLOPS, I'd be happy to port it to a Start Here FAQ, (and then you're forever committed to keep doing this till the end of days ;>)

Re: 'Globe update recognition thread'

I would like to add my thanks to SNURK for providing such an informative signature and pecking order listing. I will achieve 10 years of total runtime very soon but it is a long journey before my globe transforms to emerald, however any progress is progress.

SNURK is very busy, so I will answer 1 small part. The part of the GFLOPS with a simple example. If SNURK recognize some figures, it's purely coincidence. biggrin
The BOINC-credits of the last 30 days is the base:
1,515	1,691	1,585 594	1,412	1,686	1,504 618	1,405	1,315
1,321 871 1,809 1,298 1,302 1,598 1,284 1,248 954 1,453
782 1,507 1,280 1,110 1,029 1,218 662 2,296 2,081 1,306
Total last 30 days from BOINCstats	39,734	(Other stats site is backup)
Minimum 594
Maximum 2,296
Average without the 2 extremes 1,315.86
Gflops = Average / 100 13.2

Ooh I'm sorry d oh I'm not using this method anymore of calculating GFlops. When the signatures got so popular I got increasingly scared of being marked as a scraper one day. So now I'm using the RAC (recent average credit) exported by WCG in the user.gz file. It's the same figure plotted in blue on your RAC graph in Boincstats, devided by 100. Since then I'm not using any third party websites for the data.
I'm not sure how this RAC is calculated by WCG, but it fluctuates more then the RAC I calculated over 30 days, so my guess is it's the average of the last 7 or 14 days.

I was planning to edit the opening post of the other Globe thread anyway, to have the signature explained in one place. Placing it in the FAQ is a cool idea. I'm feeling honored.. blushing

Re: 'Globe update recognition thread'

Thanks SNURK for your explanation.

After I posted your earlier used method, I followed my 30 days average for some days and I noticed that the Gflops on the signature is much more volatile than the 30 days average.
I've to blame myself for this volatility biggrin , but it was slowly becoming clear to me that your Gflops figure couldn't be that average and must be something else.
Now I can stop puzzling.
It's not an average at all (not 7 days or 14 days), but the BOINC used method, where the last credits (most recent, therefore RAC=Recent average credit)
have the most weigth and the very old ones (even a year ago) are very light, but never zero.

I'm still at Ruby. It takes some time to get a new color on the signbadge... blushing blushing

You need 72 * 17 days, which is quite a few. I need 879 * 17 days for my next globe. Count yourself fortunate.
