Probably not faster than linux, as these were run on a Q6600 at 3.303Ghz Yes, It looks like Linux still has the edge. My AMD 1055T at 3.7 is slightly over an hour under Linux. I was thinking the architectures were closer in speed. I guess Intel still has the edge. I am surprised it's by so much. Its not like Q6600 is anywhere close to new. Edit: I did some research and it seemed to indicate the Phenom II and the Core 2 were pretty close clock for clock. I don't think I am understand why the big difference exists. My benchmarks are 2834 Floating Point 17169 Integer Would you be able to post yours? [Edit 2 times, last edit by TimAndHedy at Apr 9, 2011 7:16:34 PM] |

Nice ![]() ![]() Well I tried to run some, but mine still take 4 hours. What I haven't done yet is reset, I will do that soon when my current tasks are completed. Are we supposed to just use the one step 'reset' button on the left? The Boinc manager is 6.10#58 so I don't think that it has to be reinstalled. I think, you don't need a reset! The speed depends on your hard and software. The screenshot was from my Quad- my i7 boxes need some more time depending, what operating system is running So on my i7-920 with XP 64bit they still need 3 hours (version 6.40 needed ~4,5 hours) ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mathilde2006 at Apr 9, 2011 7:31:52 PM] |

I just read mine, it says only:
----------------------------------------1,359 floating point mips (whetsone) per cpu 2,599 integer mips (dhrystone) per cpu I guess my PC sounds like it's full of stones. ![]() ![]() |

3093 Floating Point 10573 Integer Using boinc ver. 6.10.58 downloaded from Berkeley. Thanks for posting. I don't believe the boinc version should make any difference since I believe it just manages the code that runs on your system. I don't think the Linux version would make much difference(Of course I could be wrong about this). Not enough difference in the benchmark to explain the difference. It just must be the compiler favors Intel somewhat. Does anyone else have a better explanation? |

I guess my PC sounds like it's full of stones. I don't think about the names much, they have been around for a LONG time. Plenty of odd computer terms names. |

Why are they taking so long on a i7 920? Do you have BOINC set to "Use at most 100% of CPU time" and is it set to run "While in use"? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 10, 2011 10:10:59 AM] |
