Hello.
I'd like to know if BOINC client / Projects are able to detect HW changes even when the device name remains unchanged. I'd like to know what happens if somebody owns a faulty HW producing invalid results (thus not trusted in case of Single validation) and later it's partially replaced (let say MB+CPU+RAM). Is it considered to be a new device even if it has the same harddrive / data / client installation / device name? Thanks. |

No. Boinc determines reliability based on your systems ability to complete, return and report tasks. There is no real shortcut to getting your system back to reliable. Even a project reset is not a quick-fix, as the number of tasks you get per day does not reset.
You can change your CPU, RAM, Video card... and Boinc will be able to detect these things, along with performance by running benchmarks. |
