Liked that a lot, Dave...
----------------------------------------![]() Remaining slivers can hurt as the body tries to reject the object of discomfort. Replacing negative thought results in positive visions. Brought to mind one of my favorite poems. Invictus by William Ernest Henley. Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. |

@NAP2614 - The Brain Within its Groove
----------------------------------------The mind ebbs and flows as new ideas/experiences replace others. Ms. Dickinson's brain is a fine example ![]() |

Liking Mr Henley's work
----------------------------------------![]() Thanks Beverley love the thumbs up. I caught an idea and went with it I was blessed through just looking for an image to go with the poem but decided in the end my words were enough. Here are some examples http://photosfromwinchester.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/stained-glass-window.html http://www.predigerkirche.de/kirche-und-kloster/truemmerfenster.html (saved the best till last) http://miceforlent.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/more-modern-glass-from-chester.html All put back together with a lot of TLC by people who cared. The Winchester folk hid their glass pieces for 18 years !! Dave ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David Autumns at Jan 16, 2014 12:07:15 AM] |

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but your words spoke volumes, Dave.

There is in souls a sympathy with sounds:
----------------------------------------And as the mind is pitch'd the ear is pleased With melting airs, or martial, brisk or grave; Some chord in unison with what we hear Is touch'd within us, and the heart replies. ~William Cowper Shhh Adjusting to the dark and settling in Someone coughs breaking the silence Startling the hushed crowd And then - the sound of crunching... Pass the popcorn, please! |

everyone wants
----------------------------------------to be found yet not everyone is discovered too long i've laid here an angel buried beneath the ice my heart beating blue black melodies of winter blanketing the world with a whiteness that wasn't mine, i just wanted someone to remember my entropy, but maybe that's not what's needed, maybe the world needs to remember my smile burning through all the snow and ice that cuts us in it's apathy; maybe i'm meant to be the star that lights all the candles on fire, and be the sage to save the world from every note of darkness pouring in it's sweet poison lute when eyes can scarce remember to shove it away. - - - Linda M.
