Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

That's the thing with poetry...you can read it many different
ways and yet not always connect with the poet's intention.
Also, the object of his thoughts could be in the next room,
lost in his own reveries...who really knows? thinking

Very true. One of the group said it sounds like a agoraphobic painter infatuated with a barmy person. After he realizes the other person is so far gone, that they will never come back to sanity, he decides to move on.
The crux of it is this line:

"in your isolation tank"

The poet knows what he meant by that, but the rest of us just guess.

I'm going to slip back a bit, in time.

Culture

Can rules or tutors educate
The semigod whom we await?
He must be musical,
Tremulous, impressional,
Alive to gentle influence
Of landscape and of sky,
And tender to the spirit-touch
Of man's or maiden's eye:
But, to his native centre fast,
Shall into Future fuse the Past,
And the world's flowing fates in his own mould recast.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nap2614 - Culture—specifically the arts—is a product of individuals who contribute something of value
out of their uniqueness, it is also threatened by an excess of egotism according to Emerson. shock

Hardly, Dave... wink
Now where can I purchase one of those isolation tanks? biggrin

Wacky Wednesday -- Mea Culpa!
The question was posed biggrin

I'm going to slip back a bit, in time.

Temporarily slipping back too - way off-track blushing

I love myself. I think I'm grand.
When I go to movies, I hold my hand.
I put my arm around my waist,
And when I get fresh, I slap my face.
Extra chorus:
When Mary had a little lamb
The doctor was surprised
When Old MacDonald had a farm
The doctor nearly died!
Boom Boom, ain't it great to be Crazy!

Can't say I didn't warn you angel
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.....
Saner minds please intervene!

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Tis fun to run something up a flag pole, and see who salutes it. We can also change opinions, and our minds from day to day.

Sometimes referred to throwing against the wall, to see what sticks.

Emerson disliked same old, same old.
The other terror that scares us from self-trust is our consistency; a reverence for our past act or word because the eyes of others have no other data for computing our orbit than our past acts, and we are loath to disappoint them.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesman and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall.

As a late entry, I have been much happier since my mind left on vacation.

Thank you for your insightful reply, Neil.
I do get a bit silly from time to time and appreciate your
reciprocated exchange.

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

How sweet it is to love someone how right it is to care
How long it's been since yesterday what about tomorrow
And what about our dreams and all the memories we share

The days they pass so quickly now the nights are seldom long
Time around me whispers when it's cold
The changes somehow frighten me still I have to smile
It turns me on to think of growing old
For though the life's been good to me there's still so much to do
So many things my mind has never known
I'd like to raise a family I'd like to sail away
And dance across the mountains on the moon

John Denver

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Poems, Prayers and Promises - Lovely!

Here's one heard just this evening that touched me.
A beautiful ballad...

I've been alone with you
Inside my mind
And in my dreams I've kissed your lips
A thousand times
I sometimes see you
Pass outside my door
Hello!
Is it me you're looking for?
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You're all I've ever wanted
And my arms are open wide
Because you know just what to say
And you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much
I love you

I long to see the sunlight in your hair
And tell you time and time again
How much I care
Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow
Hello!
I've just got to let you know
Because I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
Or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying
I love you

Hello!
Is it me you're looking for?
Because I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
Or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying
I love you
