A brighter note
nap

"BEST WISHES FOR A SUNSHINE DAY"

MAY BUTTERFLIES MAKE YOUR MORNINGS BRIGHT,
MAY SUNSHINE DISPERSE THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT.
MAY MORNING GLORIES BLOOM IN HUES OF BLUE,
MAY ALL YOUR WISHES AND DREAMS COME TRUE.

MAY THE WINDING COUNTRY ROAD YOU STROLL,
MAY IT BE SHADED WITH TREES AND BIRDS YOU KNOW.
MAY YOU ENJOY THE WONDERS OF THE SEASON,
MAY WONDERFUL THINGS HAPPEN FOR A GOOD REASON.

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE HAPPINESS EACH AND EVERY DAY,
MAY THE FLUFFY WHITE CLOUDS DRIFT BY TAKING AWAY THE GRAY.
MAY YOU ALWAYS BE BLESSED WITH GOOD HEALTH,
MAY YOUR YEARS BE BLESSED WITH JUST ENOUGH WEALTH.

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE FRIENDS ON THIS JOURNEY YOU TAKE,
MAY EACH MORNING BE PLEASANT AS YOU AWAKE.
MAY GOD LOOK OVER YOU EACH AND EVERY DAY AS YOU OFTEN PRAY,
MAY YOU BE BLESSED WITH A GUARDIAN ANGEL AS YOU TRAVEL ON YOUR WAY.

MAY YOU ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING IN THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE,
MAY THE ROAD ALWAYS BE THE RIGHT CHOICE IN THE ONE YOU TAKE.
MAY THE LORD ALWAYS BE AT YOUR SIDE,
MAY YOU ENJOY LIFE AND BE JOYOUS WHILE IN THIS LIFE YOU STRIVE.

MAY YOU ALWAYS TRY TO DO YOUR BEST AND FORGIVE,
MAY YOU REMEMBER THERE WILL BE TESTS EACH DAY YOU LIVE.
MAY YOU BE ABLE TO FORGET AND ERASE THE PAIN,
MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE SUNSHINE AS EACH DAY STARTS ONCE AGAIN.

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED,
MAY YOU ALWAYS MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION AND TAKE OUT THE WEEDS.
MAY ALL LIFE'S BLESSINGS BE BESTOWED ON YOU,
MAY YOU ENJOY YOUR DAY - NO MATTER WHAT YOU MAY DO.

MAY YOU ALWAYS BE ABLE TO SMILE WITH EACH DAY WHEN IT IS NEW,
MAY YOU APPRECIATE A ROSE TOUCHED WITH THE MORNING DEW.
MAY YOU BE ABLE TO FORGET ALL THE HURTS OF LONG AGO,
MAY ALL THESE BLESSINGS BE YOURS - DON'T WASTE LIFE - TRAVEL SLOW.

Song for the Journey

Here's a song for the journey
As we draw near the line
Though our eyes bear a tear
As we wave our goodbye
May the clouds part before you
May the stars kiss your eyes

There are days made for wonder
and laughter and wine
May your dreams take you places
Through rivers that wind
If we don't count our blessings
We're wasting our time

Heaven knows where the road falls before me
May the angels hold those left behind
When I think of the treasures
and pleasures we find
There are many and many were mine

When your heart it grows weary
And you can't face the night
I will give you my shoulder
For the weight on your mind
If we don't count our blessings
We're wasting our time
Here's a song for the journey tonight

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Sadly, this seems appropriate. Bickering amongst World leaders has made it so.

"The Sea of Faith Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore

Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.

But now I only hear Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,

Retreating, to the breath

Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear

And naked shingles of the world."

Matthew Arnold

In "Dover Beach" - The Sea of Faith turns into a Sea of Doubt.
It's message just as relevant today.

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pools, singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white,

Robins will wear their feathery fire,
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

A Mystery

The river hemmed with leaning trees
Wound through its meadows green;
A low, blue line of mountains showed
The open pines between.

One sharp, tall peak above them all
Clear into sunlight sprang
I saw the river of my dreams,
The mountains that I sang!

No clue of memory led me on,
But well the ways I knew;
A feeling of familiar things
With every footstep grew.

Not otherwise above its crag
Could lean the blasted pine;
Not otherwise the maple hold
Aloft its red ensign.

So up the long and shorn foot-hills
The mountain road should creep;
So, green and low, the meadow fold
Its red-haired kine asleep.

The river wound as it should wind;
Their place the mountains took;
The white torn fringes of their clouds
Wore no unwonted look.

Yet ne'er before that river's rim
Was pressed by feet of mine,
Never before mine eyes had crossed
That broken mountain line.

A presence, strange at once and known,
Walked with me as my guide;
The skirts of some forgotten life
Trailed noiseless at my side.

Was it a dim-remembered dream?
Or glimpse through ions old?
The secret which the mountains kept
The river never told.

But from the vision ere it passed
A tender hope I drew,
And, pleasant as a dawn of spring,
The thought within me grew,

That love would temper every change,
And soften all surprise,
And, misty with the dreams of earth,
The hills of Heaven arise.
John Greenleaf Whittier

"All the windows of my heart I open to the day"
-John Greenleaf Whittier

From the sublime to the ridiculous:

Sound the alarm rose

Spring is in no rush it seems
As winter lingers on
Where are all the leafy greens
Where have flowers gone

The longer days bring no respite
When chilling winds remain
April's almost here ya know
This weather's just insane

I was wandering lonely as a cloud, that floats on high o'er vales and hills. When all at once I saw

William would have cried.

These were in his Garden here

Tragic.

As a metaphor for our lives in the 21st Century .... perfect.

Break out of that pot today

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

In the last week or so I completed a trip up a Mountain (UK above 2,000ft) I set out on 27 years ago - completely cathartic

I was 21 when I set off ... I got distracted

A lifetime later I made it, after a failed attempt last year when I got to within 200ft of the summit.

I was an horrendous climb of 2000 ft in 3 miles Dungeon Ghyl l to Harrison Stickle the highest of the Langdale Pikes

It was almost worse coming back down. It would have been a whole load easier aged 21, I was springy back then.

On the way up I talked myself out of it many a time. But while puffing and blowing occasionally I would get an encouraging word that I could do it to counter those "You are only half way up"

I was going to write Poetry of detours, traverses, arrete, still tarns and babbling brooks.

But.... !

What I can tell you is this. Hang on to that dream.

For others here at WCG you know that summit may be out of reach, others may have to go on for you on your behalf. We each have our own Mountains to climb, but continuing to strive for the peaks is part of being Human

I learnt this

Every Mountain can be climbed, one small step at a time.

Langdale Pike took me 27 years to get to the top. Never give up on yours.

Dave

Stickle Tarn i'm going up the one on the left ...another 400ft

My car is somewhere down in the green valley bottom. Windermere is in the distance.

The top

I made it and completed my trip of 27 years.

This is my poetry

Congratulations, Dave and thank you! rose

The lesson to be learned here is a worthy one.
Perseverance and inner strength helps one push through difficult times.

Your inspirational message came at an appropriate time for me.
Poetically posted and respectfully received.
Great photos, as always.

We each need to be grateful and count our blessings.

Climb Every Mountain

Climb every mountain, search high and low
Follow every byway, every path you know
Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream
A dream that will need all the love you can give
Every day of your life for as long as you live

Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream
(A dream that will need all the love you can give)
(Every day of your life for as long as you live)

Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till... you... find... your...dream
