Re: what's up old-timers?

Depends on how you measure it, Seroph4x
In this thread we talk about people who were crunching with grid.org using the UD-agent
as the delivery and shipping tool
meaning that your crunching goes back to ancient crunching days in the early AD 2000s and maybe earlier.
smile

If you measure it in badges - you are an oldtimer compared to me
- anyhow you measure it, we're glad you are here helping solve important problems.

Re: what's up old-timers?

As I understand it, anyone with a HCMD1 badge should be able to claim this distinction as UD was the only way to get these work units.

Unfortunately, my UD machines were not available for long so I only have four or so days on that project. At least I can claim to have been active since before the demise of the UD agent.

Re: what's up old-timers?

Am I a old timer yet?

....I think the accepted definition for Old Timer at WCG is the first year it started...that is if you joined between Nov 2004 and Nov 2005....if like me you were also at United Devices from the start of that (April 2001), you are even older....but even then I came over from another DC project (SETI from November 2000), which I left as soon as something worthwhile came up......so I must be heading for an Ancient Old Timer cool

Re: what's up old-timers?

Well I didn't switch from UD to WCG until 05 sometime, Think about 03 maybe 02 I was at UD? I remember (now that this thread jogged the memory) THINK and Ligandfit. Happy to be helping off and on over the years. (moving around and working overseas not conducive to crunching). Been stable here for 3 years now, put together another computer for total of 25 cores. 30 years and goin strong, maybe I'll catch up to my age one day :)

Re: what's up old-timers?

Browsing through my old computers in the WCG stats, I found a UD device that returned its last work unit at 05/15/2007 15:27:22. It wasn't too much longer after this that WCG stopped using it all together.

I also noticed that my first machine to attach to WCG is still crunching away. It's been renamed a couple times, but it's definitely the same one. I must say, Alienware made some really good computers.

Edit: Also to Scribe, I started with Seti in September 2000. Wish I had heard of WCG sooner than I did. I didn't switch to exclusively WCG crunching until a couple years ago. Can't imagine what my stats would look like with all those other projects combined here.

30 years and goin strong, maybe I'll catch up to my age one day :)
I'm at about 43.9 years. Getting closer to my age, but not quite wink

Something like that. After UD started putting out junk, I came over for good.
