Yes, the beginning is fast. Then come holidays, breakdowns, and other crunchers buying new machines.

But are badges, points, ranking so important ?

The biggest pleasure is, for me, to feel useful. I trackk badges and processor times only to give an equal service to all living projects.

But I know there will always be some happy crunchers with a lot of monster computers, getting sapphire badges in a week...

You should be getting a lot more than 10k points per day on that machine, assuming you are running it 24/7. More like 30k ppd. A good dual core from 4 years ago should manage 10k.

Is there a way to make my ATI HD5500 think that it is a HD5550? so that it will be in the Compatible list of boinc.
thin i can do some gpu computing on top of my 6core cpu.
