Cake bear for all those who tell where they come from chrisj4040, tank1023 and many more can have it all - half a serving for Johnny_Utah Punchy, for several reasons: no-no ![]() Was habe ich gemacht? ![]() Ich auch kann aber etwas Deutsch sprechen (ein bisschen), aber mein Spanisch ist besser. I was able to read all of your first message in German, and almost all of Mr. B's and your next message. In Spanish as well, there are both formal and informal versions of "you" (tu is informal and usted is formal). However, I learned that many years ago, and I do not know if both forms are still in common use. Oh, and so I can get some cake, I now live in Texas, but I have lived quite a few places in the US, and even near Tokyo, Japan for a short time. The place I have lived that you might find most interesting is Rexburg, Idaho - not too far from West Yellowstone, Montana, which is often the coldest spot in the US during the winter. Translations: What have I done? ![]() I also can speak some German, but my Spanish is better. ![]() |

Buenas Dias/Noches, Punchy
![]() My Spanish is horrible, my Danish is better. And your German is excellent ![]() ![]() You have not done anything, Punchy, that's what. Now you have given me most of the world, and Tokyo, too. But what I'm after is your present country - and if you're so inclined - your state and your city, but country is fine and will qualify you for a serving of cake. Normally, Texans are very keen stating their state - they are so perkele (Finnish) proud of that little piece of dusty land ![]() Can you forgive me? Actually I have thought long and hard about having written before thinking, and about how to say I'm sorry. The worst part is the "several reasons". Your name made me think your waistline would suffer further from cake, your name being: "Punchy". Why my brain (or what we should call it) made this connection, I have no idea. Checking my dictionaries doesn't support that assumption at all. Rexburg, Idaho, the coldest spot? If I had my (our) pictures, I might be able to see if I (we) have been to Rexburg. Embarrass, Minnesota, was tanner2's suggestion for the coldest spot ... I'm sure both places can get far colder than I would wish for. Now, please have half your cake now, fill in the country in your "My Profile" and you'll have your very own Danish Æbleskiver with gløgg/Glühwein/grogg/punch to make your mouth go this way ![]() ![]() |

Too cold to swim here. Waters are always around 60 degrees but right now it's 30 degrees out side. If I were to swim I think I'd be a popsicle in five minutes.

HMS Ocean was enjoying milder climates, Viper97,
but we Danes do have Viking Blood* in more meanings of the word than one. The North Sea - first time swim there ever for me on June 16, 2011 - BTW my reason for going to Jutland was a non-public show at Karup Air Base with the Thunderbirds ![]() - Base Camp was crunching with Team U.S. Air Force then, and it inspired me ![]() The temperature was an envigorating 14C ~ 57F - the air was colder but not ![]() 30F - brrr .... that cold! ... that's FROST! * - a Danish mead just aquired Mead was the preferred drink of our Nordic gods and reputed to be the world's oldest fermented drink - made from honey - and the first bottle - another variety - was truly a drink for gods |

Ah yes... Mead... I have two cases of five year old mead in my basement mellowing. Made it myself. It should be ready in a few more years. Great stuff indeed.

Home brewer, eh?
We have a couple at Base Camp, also, one talks of 'braggot' which I have not been able to find commercially yet! It takes some discipline to have them mellowing for so long - I'm not sure I could do that ![]() |

Don't worry, little mermaid, you don't need to apologize. I wasn't really sad, just joking.
----------------------------------------I filled in Texas as my country in my profile ![]() West Yellowstone was often the coldest spot in the country, and Rexburg was not that far away. I remember one lovely week where the temperature did not get above 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Imagine working on freezing water lines in those temperatures with no gloves (required to do some of the rewiring of the heaters that failed). Punchy is the nickname of one of our dogs, and was created from a cross between "Punkin" (a nickname for smaller things perhaps originally derived from "pumpkin") and "Munchkin" (from the Wizard of Oz). "Punchkin" eventually became Punch or Punchy. You swim near aircraft carriers? Doesn't harbor water get pretty dirty? ![]() |

Well, I did worry, because I wrote before I thought, and I shouldn't do that.
----------------------------------------Even if you had not posted, I would have apologised one way or the other, and I was mulling an apology on the backburner. Your post made it easier for me. Thank you. And thank you for filling out Texas as a country - it's big enough - more than 16 times my own - and great enough to be one. There is somewhere your points get credited to your country. I cannot remember where - but we have people living in funny countries here. nanoprobe lives in Crab Nebula. The Æbleskiver and the punch is yours now, Punchy ![]() Yes, I can imagine working on freezing water lines barehanded in sub-zero temperatures - I wouldn't last five minutes ![]() I don't quite understand how the heaters enter the picture with the water pipes ... I had to pull out my map of Idaho. We did not get to Rexburg. We stayed in Blackfoot (much to my dismay the Potato Museum had folded) and went south to Bear Lake (oh, my first wild pelicans!) and entered Wyoming that way. How do you like Texas in comparison with Idaho? Was it work that bought you to Texas? Yes, harbor waters get pretty dirty, but they can be cleaned. In Denmark's capital Copenhagen they now have water clean enough to make a "harbor swim area". ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 9, 2011 4:56:20 PM] |
