Hi Folks

Whats the point of me doing this project?

Everytime i restart my PC any leishmaniasis projects which have been running are now in error state and it returns incomplete work units. sad

Please do something about this or i will stop running the leishmaniasis project.

Re: Whats the point if i cant turn off computer?

Howare you restarting the computer?

Are you doing the restart from the menu where the computer shuts down the programs then restarts it?

Or are you hitting the restart button or the power button twice in a row? This would cause the projects to error out on my pc.

Hi

I fix pc's for a living and always use the shut down from the menu.

It just seems strange.

castlerig, if you could provide some details of your computer (i.e. the first 2 dozen or so lines from your BOINC Messages tab), as well as an example of the error log you get whenever you close down your machine, that should give the techs something to go on.

Re: Whats the point if i cant turn off computer?

Please visit the Start Here FAQ index, stickied on all forums and look at section 4 roman I-IV and A. Those are as starters to begin the problem finding. Add roman V to that, OCing, a recently added topic to the Start Here forum. Some sciences are more sensitive to this than others. It may be your living, fixing PCs, but that does not make those computers immune to failure... constant or intermittent.

Re: Whats the point if i cant turn off computer?

Hi

I dont get any errors on shut down. Have looked at the event viewer and there are no errors showing up on shut down.

As for the specs, well i run a new version of boinc so there is no messages tab.

But here we go anyway

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
8.00 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit
Motherboard : MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL MS-7345

Re: Whats the point if i cant turn off computer?

Which version of BOINC????

As to the error log, I was referring to the error log of the WU's which turn into Error after they've been stopped by shutting down your machine.

The messages are now displayed in their own window: just click Advanced --> Event Log or press Ctrl+Shift+E

Boinc doesn't seem to acknowledge that the 2 tasks which were returned were in error state.

I do have other machines that are on 24/7 so i will leave them running it but as for my home pc maybe just stop this one.

Cheers for the help folks
