We have compiled the list of work units which still need to be run for this project and plan to send these out in the near future. These batches were created using a slightly different process than normal for this project so we've done internal testing and will start by releasing just one batch (which is already being sent out). If all goes well, more batches will follow in the coming days. Seippel The single batch that was released is running without problem. The remaining batches for the project are now available so there should be plenty of work for awhile. It's not possible to know how long 'awhile' is yet, but I would expect it to be at least a week of continuously available work. Seippel |

Thanks for the warning. I was thinking the project had reached completion and was disapointed not the have reached a gold badge. Now I am confident I will achieve that. Plenty of work for me!

Switched my computers to crunch this project exclusively. Hopefully I can squeak in an emerald badge!

Hopped on the bandwagon for a little [for testing certain things and as bonus, getting to run me octo 4C cooler, at 0.2Ghz faster than normal at that].
----------------------------------------As was commented by techs, these repair/mia units are slightly different, and noticed that the batch numbers are outside of the 1-2467 range. Doing #2502 ATM, which makes them easy identifiable at that for which were these extra results :D. So far, 41,782 have validated (20,629 yesterday), since this run started. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 5, 2012 12:00:29 PM] |

I'm still have ~300 WU's from batches #2500 & #2501 before starting with #2502...

2 hands in the jar can become problematic... Received a good set, and then after the first dozen that cut off at 6 hours (the in-famous 60% position rule), now have a series that run 9-10 hours, inflating the cache magnificently (2502/2503). They're processing red hot this moment (the color they get in BOINCtasks when running in high priority).
If the techs could tell us these special batch number series, we'd know when the end is Nigh again. --//-- |

![]() Here is a quote from a post I made Tuesday afternoon. This is my understanding of the HCMD2 situation. As always, I may have misunderstood everything, but if things are the way I think they are, we are going to get only rough estimates of when HCMD2 will actually close down. Just to give one specific example, I will say, as authoritatively as an unofficial Community Advisor may, that HCMD2 is indeed over - - in a sense. We have run the program over all the selected molecules. However, as in a kitchen, recipes have to be changed with varying ingredients. We ran each molecule with a selected set of factors. The molecules keep changing size and shape and we did not select the best set of factors for some of them. Now that we have all the results, some check programs are running over them and an occasional molecule is being picked out and rerun with a new set of factors. This sort of hand-crafted secondary run is going to be slow and not very teraflops intensive. We are back to human speeds at selecting each molecule. Other projects have problems a bit like this. It all depends on the project. Lawrence |

Yes, seen that, Lawrence, but if seippel et al would tell is the last batch were e.g. 2507 of the known set, the members would have some indication when the final bits of the current stream comes out... or is that logic too far fetched?
